JOB PURPOSE
1. To support residents to sustain their tenancies by offering advice and support to claim
welfare benefits
2. To support residents by helping them to gain skills such as; cleaning, cooking and
gardening
3. To offer general housing related support to assist residents in maintaining their tenancy
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1
Money Matters
1.1 To assist the money matters team to maximise the income of residents who are entitled to
welfare benefits or other financial help
1.2 Offer budgeting advice under the guidance of the money matters team
1.3 To assist residents with completing forms and explaining the process to them
1.4 To work with partners and agencies to help residents to be financially independent
1.5 To support residents at benefit related appointments
1.6 To support residents to use online services

Tenancy advice
To assist the tenant advisor to provide a specialist support and advisory service to help
Magna residents to sustain their tenancy
Offer practical help and advice in the following areas:
 Cooking, diet and nutrition
 Personal cleanliness
 Managing household chores
 Budgeting and finance
 Gardening
Work with the household to improve skills in an agreed order of priority
Assist tenants to move if appropriate and under the guidance of the tenant advisor
To have a good understanding of safeguarding issues and to report any concerns following
Magna’s protocols
To promote aids and adaptations making appropriate referrals to enable residents to live
independently at home
Other Duties

GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Specialist Support Advisor may be asked to carry out other duties which are broadly
consistent with those detailed in this Job Profile. The job holder will be expected to comply
