The Preview or Advance Story—research the teams and
interview the players and coaches as to what they expect
the outcome to be.
The Game Story—A chronological recap
The Post Game Story—deals with possible injuries, impact of
the game, where the team will go from here.

Find an example of each type of sports article.

When covering sports you cannot favor one team over
another in your writing. You also can’t spend your time at
the game cheering.


Don’t use tired expressions. (“Charity Stripe”)
Remember the difference between tired expressions and
actual game terminology.

