Physique On Fleek: Sportsmanship
Sportsmanship is used during any type of sport or game. We use it to show respect, ethics,
gratitude, and fair-play to our opponents. The definition of sportsmanship is: an aspiration that
a sport or activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness,
ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship for one’s competitors.
RESPECT-admiration for one’s abilities, qualities, or achievements
ETHICS-rules for conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions, or a
particular group, or culture
Sportsmanship is the “GOLDEN RULE” to all sports, it helps you to accept a loss, and to even
accept your opponents. In sport events you are often told to play fairly, not to cheat, and to
always treat others with respect. You have to treat others as you want to be treated, and to
also try not to “hate” losing.
K.C and her team the “Lady Tigers” were playing against the “Vandal’s”. She had been wanting
to play in the Championship Baseball World Cup Series for months now, and she couldn’t
believe that she had finally made it. She was on the baseball field playing like she had missed
playing baseball, like a long lost friend. She was fiercely bunting, hitting, and making home runs.
But when the end of the game finally came she saw the scores, they had lost. It was 10 to 9, she
always hated it when they lost by 1 point! She could never grasp losing, she usually would cry or
be mad, which was what she was now, mad. She knew that in a minute they would have to
shake hands with their opponents and show good sportsmanship. Luckily, she got through it.
Jake plays football, for the “Lockland Stingers” and is having a big game on Friday night against
the “Bartow Rams”. His team has lost every game they’ve had except for the one against the
“Cuddly Bears”, so they’re really hoping to win this game too. Finally the day of the big game
comes, and Jake is prepared to win. While they’re playing, Jake fumbles to the ground with a
hard thud, after someone on the other team bumps into him and knocks him to the ground.
Immediately the game is stopped, and the coaches rush to help him up. Luckily Jake wasn’t
injured so he was able to play once more. The game ends, after rough hits, throws, and very
successful touchdowns. Jake looks at the score and he yells out to his team “Yeah! We won!”
Then everyone on his team bursts out into cheers and hoorays. The opponents on the other
side yell “good game!”, and “nice job!” to show SPORTSMANSHIP. After the awards ceremony
the whole team had a celebration at Jake’s house and even invited the opponents, though they
hadn’t won it was a very nice and respectful thing to do.
