This series of lectures will put three famous gardens in the UK under the spotlight alongside other well-known gardens to decipher just why their designs work so well, and translate different concepts and aspects. This series of lectures was first run in 2016 at RHS Garden Wisley and back by popular demand. Design Secrets Revealed – Sussex Prairie Garden 068A 23rd January 2017 In this first evening of the season Andrew Fisher Tomlin will place the spotlight on the inspiring Sussex Prairie Garden, where evocative naturalistic planting with innovative combinations sparks exploration and adventure. He will examine the theory behind prairie garden planting with a look at other projects such as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, that are also easily accessible before looking in depth at the structural and planting design of this modern garden. Design Secrets Revealed – Bury Court 068B 27th February 2017 In this lecture Andrew Wilson delves deep to reveal the secrets behind the captivating design of Bury Court Gardens. We will contrast the work of designer Piet Oudolf, pioneer of the New Perennial Movement with the minimalist planting schemes of Christopher Bradley-Hole, with plenty of inspiration and ideas for you to take away. Design Secrets Revealed – Serge Hill Garden 068C 20th March 2017 Stunning sweeps of naturalistic planting, wildflower and exotic meadows make Serge Hill Garden a truly breathtaking space. Join Andrew Wilson as he explores the success of award-winning landscape designer Tom Stuart-Smith’s design and consider how to recreate elements of the beauty in your own gardens. Profiles Andrew Fisher Tomlin Andrew is a director of LCGD and leads the unique Planting Design Diploma that attracts students from across the world. He has recently won awards for his work both in the UK and overseas including Best in Show at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2016. Andrew Wilson Andrew is also a LCGD director and leads the Garden Design Diploma. He is well versed in the work of many other designers having written several books on the work of leading proponents and specialist books on planting, colour and design elements.
