Characteristics of Effective Teams: One-day Workshop Target Audience This workshop is designed for people who have had little or no training in team development but who lead or are about to lead a team. Ideally, group size would be limited to 12 participants. This number allows the course tutor to devote sufficient time to giving participants individual feedback throughout the day. Expected Outcomes By the end of this course, participants will be able to: State what is a team Describe the stages a team goes through as it matures Identify the key characteristics that make up a high performing team Identify what they can do to improve team working within their teams State the importance of communication within teams. Approach This highly interactive workshop contains a mixture of theory, discussion-based sessions and practical exercises, and allows participants to try out tips and techniques in practice. Elements include: Team vs working group Team roles (using the Belbin model) Tannenbaum and Schmidt – team Stages for achieving high performance teams Communication within teams Motivating teams Practical application. A Certificate of Attendance for this workshop will be provided at the end of the course and PDFs of the support material will be sent electronically to all individuals.
