Guestroom
Mr. Tung owns a private business. He often invites his business partners
in Mainland China to his apartment where they have snacks & tea, chats
& informal meeting. What kind of mood is necessary (friendly or cultural
or luxury or Chinese styled)? What is the layout of sofa or chair that
promotes a warm chat? How to make the sofa or chair to be the focal
point of the guestroom? { important factors: layout & furniture}

A. The mood for holding a meeting(relaxed, friendly)
B. The feeling will be like staying at home
C. Having simple things for business
D. As the guestroom is small, the design should be more focus on the
problem of storage

1. Functions 功能
- can hold a formal or informal meeting with several partners
- can hold a simple presentation
- can take a rest and have relaxing activities(reading books, listening to
CDs and etc.)
- it have comfortable(smooth)sofas, air conditioners and other facilities
for having a comfortable meeting
- this guest room have cabinet for storing shoes, CDs and books, which
can construct the feeling/mood of home or family, to counteract the
cruel mood of the economic market
- it has some simple things for a meeting or talk
2. (a) 舒適 Comfortable, (b) 安全 Safe , (c ) 效率 Efficient :

- warm, pale colours and lower light density to present a more relaxed,
quiet environment for the meeting
- the sofas are smoother in shape
- besides the door, there is a plant which is for relaxing
- on the cupboard’s side, it has more space
- there are some more space for storage under the sofas
- the doors of the cupboards are mirrors, which can let the room looks
bigger

- rounded shape’s furniture
- enough space for several people to have different activities in this
guestroom

- the cupboards have doors, which can keep the things inside it cleaner
- {layout}the L-shape cupboard(keep more space)
- {layout}the sofas are put as L-shape(keep more space and have
meetings)
- this guest room has a lot of things, which can let the owner hold both
formal and informal meeting
3. Sizes 大小尺寸:

the sofas sizes are same as the common sofas
1B.- the guest room is 6000mx6000m and all the designs in it is seem the
one in the real world

- the round shapes’ cupboard doors
- the smooth shapes’ of other furniture

- cupboards are having different functions(like storing laptop, CDs,
books and etc.)

IMPACT AND INFLUENCE OF CULTURE TO BE DEVELOPED FROM THE PROJECT
This new design has changed a few old ideas:
1) guestroom can be only hold one kind of meeting(formal or informal)
2) guestroom are always simple and only for holding a talk or meeting
3) the room with small areas can not be a guestroom(of holding a formal
meeting)
4) Rooms with small areas can not have so many other things which are
not about meetings or talks like snacks, books, CDs and etc.
5) guestroom could have something for relaxing like snacks, CDs or
some plants
6) people in the guestroom can sit close together(on sofas but not on
office chairs)
7) This design can relax the tensional mood
