Nanoleaf Releases Industry Leading PAR38 Despite L-Prize

Nanoleaf, the Red Dot award-winning company that introduced the world to the most energy
efficient light bulb ever made, is breaking new ground on LED technology once again with its
new PAR38 light. Utilizing a ’Trifecta’ technology developed exclusively by Nanoleaf, the
PAR38 excels in three critical categories of great lighting. This achievement has already been
awarded a prize by the world-renowned Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) for technical
progress made in lighting during 2015.
Exclusive Trifecta Technology
It’s not unusual for a PAR light to achieve high CRI, a smooth beam angle or energy
efficiency, but never before has a PAR38 been able to hit all three criteria in one lamp. By
utilizing customized technology that interweaves all three of these key components,
Nanoleaf’s PAR38 is an artist’s tool that focuses on the principles of emphasis, balance and
harmony to create the highest quality lighting conditions - instantly transforming everyday
objects from ordinary to outstanding.
The Nanoleaf PAR38 was originally developed for the prestigious L Prize, a contest
established by the U.S. Department of Energy to celebrate the most innovative and efficient
lighting, but the competition was called off unexpectedly. Despite this setback, Nanoleaf
pushed on with the PAR38 light and the final version has surpassed all initial expectations,
establishing itself as the best in the industry.
Utilizing Chip-on-Board (COB) technology that hits a CRI of 92 and pairing this with a narrow
20-degree beam angle, the PAR38 produces the most precise picture quality and crisp
shadow to perfectly highlight artwork, clothing and prized artefacts. Built with a single light
emitter and lens that uses Total Internal Reflection (TIR), the PAR38 is strategically
engineered to eliminate any glare and inconsistent rings around the beam while creating a
beautiful gradient around the object. In conjunction with its high CRI and smooth beam angle,
the light reaches an astounding efficacy greater than 80 Lumens per Watt.

By cleverly combining all three principles instead of focusing on just one, Nanoleaf’s PAR38 is
an LED that offers high quality halogen light – illuminating objects in a way that does so much
more than just light them up. The company’s PAR38 is also one of the very first products to
meet the new Energy Star 2.0 standard, exceeding the efficiency of all other lights in its class.
