PARENT RESOURCES: What is a language-rich environment? Parents and other caring adults can create an environment in which the child hears conversations and has lots of opportunities to communicate with others. By being exposed to a wide vocabulary, the child is better able to take command of the language and use it accurately and effectively. As the child grows, increase his/her exposure to language by introducing new, “rich” words for familiar concepts.
