6th UK Newsletter - Traffic Snake Game

E-Newsletter
Issue 6 - September 2016
We are ready for the 6th edition of TSG!
This year, we have more UK schools playing the Traffic Snake Game and they will be starting in
September. Schools from Northamptonshire and Southend-on-Sea will be joining the campaign!
Teachers have already received their materials and we are helping them to come up with new
ideas for additional ‘deluxe’ activities.
National event
We will be presenting the campaign results at the European Transport Conference in Barcelona on
the 5th of October. We are very excited to be able to show the audience the results of the
campaign and are very proud to have achieved some of the targets already.
Join the photo competition
Walking, cycling and taking public transport to
school can be fun. Encourage your pupils to take
part in a picture/photo competition. The prize is a toy
snake. All they need to do is submit a picture or a
photo of their trip to school by bike, on foot or while
dancing on the pavement. Please send any pictures
to us by the 31st of October. You can find the rules
of the game here.
Post your photo with #trafficsnake on Instagram, or
mail to [email protected]
St Loys taking TSG one step ahead!
Do you remember St Loys school? They are taking the TSG to a new level! They have decided to
play the game throughout the year, by grouping the pupils into houses! At the end of the year the
House that has carried out the highest number of sustainable trips will be awarded a trophy! We
have some interesting activities coming up with St Loys and will keep you posted with more
information!
Play online via Smartboard
If your school has a Smartboard (also known as a digiboard) connected to the internet, the results
can be completed online. Instead of raising hands during the campaign each child clicks on the
travel mode they used on the Smartboard. The size of the dots changes when results are entered
and this is relative to the number of trips taken by each mode.
You can easily access the smartboard view when you’re logged in as a school. You can enter the
measurement results by selecting the Smartboard view in the measurement tabs (before
measurement, campaign week 1, campaign week 2, or after measurement).
