About Netball Queensland
Netball Queensland (NQ) is the peak state sporting organisation
responsible for the governance, development, promotion and
administration of netball throughout Queensland. NQ is a non-profit
sporting organisation governed by a Board of Directors and managed
by a vibrant team out of the head office in Moorooka.
NQ is a member organisation of Netball Australia, the national body for
the sport and its membership is up made of affiliated netball
associations from across Queensland which currently comprises 78
affiliated associations representing in excess of 360 netball clubs and
over 50,000 registered players and non-playing participants. The State
is divided into 12 regions each of which are incorporated branches
managed by a voluntary committee consisting of elected delegates from
affiliated associations within the regions.
Support for netball has grown to include community participation and
spectator involvement by engaging with the corporate community,
schools, media, government and local authorities, ensuring excellence
in all spheres of the sport.

Netball Queensland’s flagship team, the Queensland Firebirds, are one
of Queensland’s most successful sporting teams taking out the ANZ
Championship trophy in 2011, 2015 and 2016 in addition to back-toback Grand Final appearances in 2013 and 2014.
With the recent back-to-back 2015 & 2016 ANZ Championship wins and
the announcement of a new “Home of Netball” State Netball Centre for
Queensland (including an eight-court indoor netball centre, state-of-theart game and training facilities and new administrative offices) based at
the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, now is an exciting time to

Coach and Officials Development Officer
Reporting to the General Manager – Community and Sport Development, the
Coach and Officials Development Officer is responsible for increasing the
numbers and capability of coaches, umpires and bench officials throughout
Netball Queensland. This role will contribute to increasing participation in
netball by attracting, developing and retaining coaches, umpires and bench
officials. As a member of the Community and Sport Development Team, this
role also works closely with the Accreditation and Allocations Officer.
Candidates will ideally be tertiary qualified in education, coaching, sport
development or related discipline with demonstrated success in coach
and/or official education curriculum development and delivery.
To be considered for this role you will need excellent communication and
presentation skills and the ability to swiftly build relationships and credibility
as the “go-to” person for coaches, officials and bench umpires at all levels,
as well as optimising the contribution of a diverse range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be experienced in the development
and implementation of policy, strategic plans and budgets which
result in the delivery of effective programs.
The ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and
manage time effectively under pressure, operating both autonomously
and as a part of a team are key skills required in this role.
Experience as a netball coach would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
The Coach and Officials Development Officer will be responsible for
the following key tasks:
• Develop and implement coach development programs in
accordance with NQ’s Coaching Strategy and National Coach
Accreditation Structure.
• Assist with the development a NQ Officials Strategy in
consultation with NQ Working Groups, NQ Events Committee and
relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure the effective implementation of NQ Officials Strategy and
related officials’ development programs.
• Liaise within NQ to deliver or coordinate the coach and officials
requirements for all relevant programs within Netball Queensland.
• Coordinate and assist NQ Umpire Coaches to plan and implement
umpire coaching at various NQ competitions and events.
• Coordinate and implement Bench Officials’ development programs.
• Work closely with the General Manager – Community and Sport
Development to implement the NQ Coaching Strategy and
Officials Strategy and provide reports on progress and future
direction.
• Utilise the assistance of the Accreditation and Allocations Officer,
to maintain accurate and up to date records of Coaching, Umpiring
and Bench Officials details and qualifications.
• Work with the Accreditation and Allocation Officer to maintain
statistical information of umpires and bench officials for constant
benchmarking.
• Work with Commercial and Marketing department to ensure the
profile of coaches, officials and related programs and activities are
high.
• Complete all other reasonable duties as identified and required.
Location
This position will initially be based at the Netball QLD head office
which is located at 210 Beaudesert Road, Moorooka, Brisbane.
Once completed, the role will be based at the new State Netball
Centre at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC) in
Nathan.
Regional and domestic travel may be required from time to time.

Selection Criteria
In addition to demonstrating relevant experiences across the core
functional areas of responsibility identified in this Position Overview,
candidates applying for the Coach and Officials Development Officer
role will require a range of personal and professional skills, including:

• Relevant tertiary level qualifications
• Demonstrated ability in coach and / or official’s development
• Minimum three years previous experience in a related field of
employment
• Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft office suite
• Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and
manage time effectively
• Demonstrated experience in development and implementation of
policy, strategic plans and budgets
• Excellent communication skills including face to face, telephone,
written reports and general correspondence

Timelines - Important Information for Candidates
Final interviews and the appointment of the Coach and Officials
Development Officer, Netball Queensland are scheduled for late

Hours of Work
