Coach Steve Spicer – Assistant Camp Director and Assistant Coach at Stafford High School. Coach Spicer has over 35 years of head coaching experience and over 400 career wins. Stafford High School Basketball Coaching Staff – Corey Brooks (Assistant Varsity), Maurice Johnson (Assistant Varsity), William Richardson (Head JV), Dave Coppage (Head Fresh.) Stafford High School Basketball Team (counselors) – will assist the coaches in teaching and demonstrating the fundamentals and skills at the camp. The players are first-class young men that are terrific role models, teachers, and supporters of your child and do an outstanding job of relating to the campers. Facilities/Safety The camp will take place in our brand school and new air-conditioned gymnasium. To ensure proper camper to staff ratios for optimal instruction and safety, camp will be limited to the first 100 campers. All coaches have been trained in CPR, AED, and basic First Aid. Lunch/Snack Break Campers should bring a lunch daily, lunch will not be provided or sold. Campers should also bring a sports drink or water. Each day will have a 10 minute snack break and 30 minute lunch break. Stafford High School Basketball Camp The main objective of our camp is to focus on individual skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a fun, safe, non-threatening and non-critical environment. Highlights include: • • • • • • • 6:1 Camper to staff ratio Daily small group fundamental and drill teaching stations 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games and tournament Daily Skills Contests Camper of the Day Awards Guest Speakers Player Evaluation Card, Camp Picture, and Camp Shirt The Stafford High School Basketball Camp is for children of all skill and experience levels ages 715. The camp will emphasize skill and fundamental development. Players will be grouped based on their size, age, and ability. Instruction will include – ball handling, passing, individual and team defense, rebounding, agilities, shooting, and the transition game – while stressing the importance of team play, hard work, and discipline. Camp sold out last year, so be sure to get your registration in early. To ensure proper supervision and safety of campers, camp will be limited to the first 100 campers to sign up. Walk in registration will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Equipment Campers are expected to dress appropriately. This should include their camp shirt, athletic shorts, socks, and athletic shoes. Basketballs and other equipment will be provided. Campers should not bring their own basketball. Please do not bring cell phones or other valuables, as we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
