not dismissed, continue to bat in accordance with the following formula;
lost time is halved and reduced by 5 minutes
16. Wides and Dead Balls:
In instances where the match is played on hard wickets the following will apply
a) Dead Ball Umpires are directed to call ‘Dead Ball’ against any ball which shoots from the gap

object.
(NOTE! The term ‘shoots’ means a ball acted in an unnatural manner giving
the bowler an unfair advantage)
3
b) Wides/Dead Balls –
Umpires are directed to call any ball that pitches on the grass or the edge of any
exposed concrete (off the matting) and carries on in a straight line or deviates away
from the batter and passes the batter without being touched a ‘Wide’. Batters may
attempt to get extra runs in this instance.
One (1) run shall be added to the batting score for this call plus any additional runs
that are completed.
Umpires are directed to call any ball that pitches on the grass or the edge of any
exposed concrete (off the matting) and deviates towards the batter a ‘Dead Ball’.
This call is to be made as soon as the deviation is noticed.
This ball will be re-bowled and no penalty runs will be recorded.
c) Where matches are played on a turf pitch the normal rules of cricket will apply.
d) Wides, Dead Balls and No Balls will be re-bowled, providing an over to consist of
no more than eight (8) balls, except the last over (the 40th over) of the innings which
must consist of six (6) legitimate balls.

18. Late Players:
Late arriving players may not come onto the field of play until the end of an over in
progress and only after the umpires have been advised and given permission.
In the advent of a player coming onto the field of play without permission five (5)
penalty runs will be awarded to the batting side.
19. Wet Weather Rule:
In the advent of wet weather the following rules will apply
a) If time is lost during the first innings, due to inclement weather, the time lost will be
halved and the side batting may continue to bat for this extra time.
b) If this time lost does not allow for the required number of overs (40) to be bowled
the number of overs bowled in the first innings will be the required number of overs
to be bowled in the second innings.
c) If time is lost during the second innings, due to inclement weather, and the required
number of overs cannot be bowled, the scores at the same number of overs of both
teams will determine who has won the game providing a minimum of twenty (20)
overs have been bowled.
d) If the entire day is lost due to inclement weather the game may be played on the rest
day. Should this not be possible the game will be declared a draw.
