3rd International Animated Film Festival ReAnimacja 2006 – Statute

Time, Place, Organizers
1. Animated Film Festival ReAnimacja will take place between 21 and 23 April 2006
in Łódź, at Charlie Cinema, 203/205 Piotrkowska Street, Poland
2. The main organizers are KinoForma Foundation and Charlie Cinema

Participation conditions
1. The competition is addressed to all works submitted by artistic schools and film
schools, production companies, film institutions and individual authors. The
competition is open to any animated works’ authors, regardless of their age. Works
by the Jury members or Selection Committee members cannot enter the competition.
2. In order to participate in the Festival’s competition, the entrant needs to
send (at their own expense) to the Festival Office by 10 March 2006:
- The competition film
- Two filled out application forms (A4 form + A4 folder jacket)
The deadline for all entrants is 10 March 2005 r.

3. Each entrant may submit the maximum of two films, regardless of their form.
4. The organizers will not return the submitted films. However, the films may be
returned (at the entrant’s expense) if requested.
5. In case of doubts pertaining to the authenticity of any submitted filmy, the organizers
have the right to eliminate the film from the competition.
6. The authors come to Łódź at their own expense.

Technical conditions.
1. The entrants should submit films made during the period from 2004 to 2006 (which
did not participate in the Festival’s previous edition), regardless of the animation
technique. Mixed films, where animation constitutes at least 50% of the film, are also
allowed.
2. We will accept films, which abide by the following technical criteria:

35mm or 16mm film

Digital Betacam (PAL)

Betacam SP (PAL)

Sony DV CAM (PAL)

DV (PAL)

DVD

MPG 1 (preferred definition 720x576, 25 fps, progressive, high quality)

MPG 2 (preferred definition 720x576, 25 fps, progressive, high quality)

DIVX and XVID (preferred definition 720x576, 25 fps, progressive, high
quality)

VHS (if other media are not available)
3. The film should last between 30 sec. and 30 min.
4. Films can include credits (either in the beginning or in the end) containing among
others: the title, the name of the author, production year, etc.
5. Each entrant submitting their film should give its title, time of duration, type of
format, a short plot resume, Producer Company’s name and address. The authors are
also requested to submit their name, address and contact phone number. (If the
entrant is a student they should give their School’s name and address). If the author
is a member of any Film Association they should give its name and address. (Fill out
the forms legibly, please).
6. The organizers may eliminate a film from the competition if its technical quality
makes the screening impossible.

Selection and evaluation
1. If there should be more entries than planned, the films will be pre-selected by a
Selection Committee appointed by the organizers. The Commission will select
competition films. Next, the Competition Jury will evaluate the selected films.
2. Entrants will be informed by phone or e-mail if their film has been selected for the
Competition two weeks before the Festival opens.
3. Those films, which will not be selected for the competition will be presented during a
separate screening: animated film panorama.

Festival Jury
1. The Jury consists of specialists, theoreticians and practicians, who deal with new
medias and traditional animation.
2. The Jury will receive all competition films 21 days before the Festival starts.
3. The Jury will evaluate the films and award the Main Award during a session after the
competition part of the Festival.
4. The Jury is allowed to choose films for honors.
5. The Jury session’s minutes will be prepared by the Secretary of the Jury.
6. In case of disputes, the Chairman of the Jury will take any ultimate decisions.

Awards and Prizes
1. The Main Award is a Golden Snail and money.
2. The Chairman of the Jury is allowed to honor three films suggested by the Jurors.
3. The Viewers will give their award (Viewers’ Award) to the author of the best film
shown during the Festival.
4. The Awards will be announced during the closing ceremony on 21 April 2006.

Final Resolutions
1. Each competition film is in the Festival Director’s deposit from the moment
of submission to the end of the festival. Films may be returned to their Authors only
after the Festival is over and only at their expense, if requested in the Application
Form.
2. The author must agree for their film to be presented during the festival’s
retrospectives, which will take place after the festival in other Polish cities, as well as
abroad.
3. The organizers might use the winner films on the festival’s Web site
(www.reanimacjafestival.com). The organizers are obliged to protect such a film
against copying.
4. The Selection Committee and Jury’s verdicts are decisive and indisputable.
5. The organizers will not take responsibility if any authors violate Copyright Laws.
6. The organizers may use parts of the competition films for promotion purposes.
7. Submitting a film and filling out the application form is tantamount to accepting the
competition’s status.

Additional information
1.
The Festival will be accompanied by additional events: screenings of distinguished
authors’ films, a music event, a film panorama, meetings with authors and discussion
panels.
2.
The Opening of the Festival will take place on 21 April 2006. The Closing Ceremony
and screenings of film winners will take place on 23 April 2006.
