CODE OF CONDUCT FOR
BOXERS/MEMBERS
All boxers/members of Poseidon Amateur Boxing Club must understand and adhere
to the following code of conduct as a condition of their membership:




















All boxers/members shall understand and adhere to the Club’s Child Protection
Policy.
All boxers/members shall understand and adhere to the Club’s Equity Policy.
All boxers/members shall make every effort to develop their own sporting abilities
in terms of skill, technique, tactics, fitness and stamina.
All boxers/members shall set a positive and good example for others, particularly
younger members and supporters.
All boxers/members should know and abide by the laws, rules and spirit of the
sport of amateur boxing.
Boxers/members are not to use foul or otherwise inappropriate language.
Whilst representing the Club or taking part in Club affiliated events, members
must never behave in a way that brings the Club into disrepute. Such behaviour
may result in disciplinary action.
All boxers/members shall not take banned substances or use barred techniques.
All boxers/members shall accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally.
In order to protect other participants in the Club, boxers/members should not be
associated or participate in the use of drugs or violence. Should any
boxer/member do so and this be brought to the attention of the Committee, it may
result in disciplinary action and possibly expulsion from the Club.
Boxers/members are to be punctual for training and competitions and be ready
and prepared at the appropriate time given to you by your coach or team
manager.
Boxers/members must always be respectful to ABAE Coaches, Team Managers
and Officials – dissent will not be tolerated during competition, training or under
any circumstances.
No men/boys shall enter the changing rooms of women/girls or vice versa.
Boxers/members should not take or otherwise interfere with another person’s
property.
Always respect and never underestimate your opponent.
Always encourage, support and respect your fellow team members at all times,
without behaving in an unsporting way towards your opponents.
Never bully, harass or intimidate a fellow team member or an opponent – this will
not be tolerated under any circumstances.
If you feel unwell, become injured or have an accident, you should report this to
your coach or a Committee member immediately.
At the club gym, tournament venues, other clubs or within team accommodation;
always treat your environment with respect and always ensure that you leave it
tidy after your use.
When travelling in vehicles as part of Club business, seat restraints must be
worn.

Take responsibility for yourself and your behaviour inside and outside of
competition and training.
All boxers/members must pay subs for training sessions and club fees promptly.
Junior members under the age of 16 are not permitted to smoke on Club
premises or whilst representing the Club.
Boxers/members under the age of 18 are not permitted to consume alcohol on
Club premises or whilst representing the Club.
No boxer/member is to consume or use illegal substances of any kind. Use of
such substances may lead to disciplinary action by the Club and referral to
Police Authorities.
