STAFFORDSHIRE NETBALL PERFORMANCE PATHWAY ACADEMY
SELECTION SESSIONS
You have been identified within your Club/School to attend the following Netball Staffordshire
Academy Selection event. We would like to invite you to the following:
Saturday 3rd June 2017
8:30-15:00
Under 14s Year 7 & 8 (this present school year)
Sunday 4th June 2017
9:00-16:00
Under 16s Year 9 & 10 (this present school year)

Please arrive 15 minutes before your session to register.
The session is the first stage in becoming a member of the Staffordshire County Academy and will
consist of warm up, skills & match play.
Athletes may be asked to attend a further selection session on a Sunday 18th June at Stafford Manor
High.
Final selection for the County Academies & Satellite Academy will be made after this session.
Parents are advised that the both sessions are closed screening session and, therefore, will have no
spectators.
There will be 2 outcomes from these sessions:
 An invitation to attend selection for Academy or
Satellite Academy
 Unsuccessful athletes will return to School/Club
Please note that Athletes may be de-selected from the process at any time.
WHAT YOU NEED TO WEAR:
 Plain white top (no logos, no school/club/county tops)
 Black or navy bottoms (skirt/shorts/skort/leggings)
 NO NETBALL DRESSES
 Sports trainers (no ‘fashion shoes’)
 NO JEWELLERY
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:
 Plenty to drink
 Snacks
Please also remember to have hair tied back and nails short.
INFORMATION ABOUT STAFFORDSHI RE ACADEMIES
The Satellite Academy caters for players in school years 8-9 who will train fortnightly for
mimimum of 40 hrs across the year
The content of the programme is based around the England Netball Performance Pathway and
encompasses skill level, positional play, nutrition and fitness.
At all times the essence of the programme is QUALITY, CONSISTENCY & FUN. In order for a
player to progress through the Satellite Academy system she must be able to perform a skill with
precision and control and understand the importance of physical and mental fitness and how to achieve
them.
The U16 County Academy caters for players in school year 10-11. These players train for minimum 60
hours across the year. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE COMMITMENT REQUIRED!!
Younger players may be asked to come and train in the U16 County Academy if EN scouts feel this
advisable. This academy is based around the England Netball Performance Pathway and is a greater
commitment as players are assumed to have mastered all skills from the Satellite Academy standards.
The County will also run a Development performance programme for U16’s which will run for
approximately 40 hrs across the year
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY:
Trialists must: Be affiliated to EN (through club or school)
 Be U14 on September 1st 2017 for U14 Satellite Academies
 Be U16 on September 1st 2017 for U16 County Academy
(Younger players may be invited if identified by EN scouts)
 Have completed an entry form including their date of birth
 Specified their preferred playing position
 Have met the deadline with entry form
FURTHER INFORMATION FOR TRIALISTS:
 Players must be committed to demanding and regular training
 They will be expected to attend every training session
 Players must bring their netball and a first aid kit to their academy training nights
SATELLITE AND COUNTY ACADEMY FEES:
Trial Fees are £5 (Cheques only and payable to SCNA)
Fees for Under 16 Academy athletes will be approx. £240 60 hrs of training
Fees for Under 14 Satellite athletes will be approx. £120 30 hrs of training
Fees include a polo shirt, netball, venue hire and coaching costs
TRAINING VENUES AND TIMES:
All Satellite and Academy Training will be held on a Sunday at Stafford Manor High.
