This year, the theme is games and Scavenger Hunt participants are players in The Village Adventure Game.
The Hunt
Gamers pick up their Scavenger Hunt Clue Sheet / Game Board at the entrance then head into the Village to begin. Giant
spinners are used to determine the starting (colour) position. That coloured tile is then located in the Village where there is
further information and activities. Progress is tracked on a bingo-styled board. For even more fun, gamers can complete the
bonus questions and activities to “blackout” their sheet.
Amusements and diversions along the way include giant games of snakes and ladders, chess, and tic-tac-toe. There is also a
movie playing in the Central Park Theatre and a craft for children the Tram Barn.
Need a break? The daily entertainment includes the antics of Watson the Dog Detective, K.C. the Clown, The Trollsons or
a stilt walker. Performances are at 1, 2 & 3pm daily. Also, the Ice Cream Parlour will be open with light menu items and
special treats available.
Displays
Board games have been played for millennia. The basis of them vary from race (first to the finish), strategy, skill and chance.
There are early games on display in Stride Studios, some common and not so common such as Parcheesi, Uncle Wiggily,
and Crokinole. The games highlighted in the Real Estate Office display are from the 1960s to 1970s and have a commercial
aspect with plastic components.
