Working in twos, children, one
at a time travel with ball over
a spot set out around the safety
area. Progression – Travel
over two spots.
Ensure class is abiding by the
rules of basketball.
Ask partner to watch out for
law breaks
And roaming defenders. Can
class still follow rules whilst
under pressure..

freely encouraging children to
move where ever the space.
Give children different arm
movements to do whilst

Similar to week one but place
spots close to each other and
challenge children this time to
go through the gaps, if
successful they score one
point, if they touch one they
lose a point

Within the middle of the safety
area is a white square. Inside
the square is a bunch of floor
spots. Challenge class to
dribble towards square touch
one spot with their foot then
back out.
Add defenders to the square.
Aim is still to touch one spot
with your foot. Ensure children
are putting body between ball
and defender.
What was the purpose of the

Ask children which ones were
against the rules, and why?
Challenge a child to attempt to
steal the ball off you, whilst
using the shield
