The Bureau of Land Management is beginning the process of planning and evaluating a possible
multiple use trail system near the town of Sprague, Washington in the Fishtrap Recreation Area. The
proposed trail system seeks opportunities for non-motorized recreation including hiking, mountain
biking, and horseback riding. The proposed system would add 6.3 miles of newly wnstructed trail with
improvements on 1.8 miles of existing trail.
This notice provides an introduction to the BLM ' s proposed Fishtrap Loop Trail Project. We hope that
you will find it useful in understanding this project and how you can take part in shaping it.
I am inviting you to submit any comments, issues, and concerns you have that will help shape or further
develop this project. Comments that express site-specific issues or concerns are most helpful. Please
submit your comments by January 9, 2014.

Fishtrap Loop Trail Project
The Bureau of Land Management is beginning the process of planning and evaluating a
possible multiple use trail system near the town of Sprague, Washington in the Fishtrap
Recreation Area. The proposed trail system would provide opportunities for non-motorized
recreation including hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The proposed system
would add 6.3 miles of newly constructed trail to an existing 13.9 miles of trails. In addition, 1.8 miles of existing trail would be improved as part of the proposal.
The trail system would be designed to provide a high quality experience while protecting
natural and cultural resources. The proposed trail system would consist of sustainable, low
maintenance trails that are enjoyable and safe to use, have a low environmental impact, and
minimize user conflicts.
The proposed Fishtrap Loop Trail Project is located within the Fishtrap Allotment in
sections 1, 2, 11 and 12 of Township 21 North, Range 39 East, and section 36 of Township
22 North, Range 39 East.
How Can You Be Involved?
Scoping is just the beginning! We want to hear any issues, concerns, or questions you may
have specific to the Fishtrap Loop Trail Project. Comments clearly expressing site-specific
issues are the most helpful. Please submit your comments by January 9, 2014.
There are several ways for you to contact us, and we welcome your comments at any time
during the project. Since we are just starting to develop this project, now is the best time for
you to provide your input into its development.
