LAND SURVEYING
Introduction to Geomatics
An introduction to the field of surveying and mapping. Integrated
topics include drafting, surveying, cartography and geographic
information systems.
Basic Surveying I
Care and use of basic land surveying field instruments,
including steel tape, transit, theodolite, total station
and levels.
Basic Surveying II
Computations and adjustments of land survey
measurements. Final product of tabular and graphic
data representation stressed.
Construction Surveying
Methods and procedures for establishing line and grade
for construction. Circular and parabolic curves.
Cross-sectioning, earthwork, plan reading.
Boundary Surveying
Analysis and evidence and procedures for boundary
location. Establishing and/or locating points for
boundary and mortgage location surveys. Plat
preparation.
Surveying Field Practice
Practical experience in the use of surveying
equipment and methods of surveying.
Provides students with the responsibility of
making decisions and planning and directing
complete projects.

SURVEYING and MAPPING
The Bachelor of Science in Surveying and Mapping is an
upper level degree program designed to meet the formal
education requirements for registration as a Professional
Surveyor (P.S.) in the state of Ohio.
The upper level degree program is defined as follows:
• The first two years are completed as an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Land Surveying or similarly based program.
• Two of the three remaining years are for the completion of courses for the degree.
• The remaining year is devoted to cooperative work experience.
