Robert L. Elliott, D.M.A., is Professor and Chair of the Department of Music at Tennessee State University in Nashville. He authored Improving Learning and Reducing Costs: New Models for Distance Learning and Online Courses (Proceedings of the 2005 NASM Conference, 2006), textbook‐supporting technology materials for McGraw‐Hill Publishing, and several journal articles. He has presented at many national and international events, and is a recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. His most recent publication, used in classes at universities throughout the United States, Our World, Our Music, 2ed., is distributed by Kendall Hunt Publishing. He is active in international projects in many countries, serves on numerous advisory boards and panels, is a recipient of the Community Leadership Award from the United States Navy, has performed on many high‐profile stages and CDs, and continues his career as an upright and electric bassist.
