Introduction Letter from Ms. Finley

Meet our New Counselor at Brookhaven!
Dear Brookhaven Families!
My name is Krystal Finley and I am so excited to be Brookhaven’s school counselor!
I am honored to be a part of the Brookhaven family that includes an amazing group
of staff, parents and students!
Prior to Brookhaven, I was a school counselor at Rock View Elementary and
Carderock Springs Elementary. I completed my Counseling degree at George
Washington University after teaching for seven years in the District of Columbia
Public Schools. I have been in education for over 20 years and I am committed to
the service of supporting our students in their journey to academic success and
social-emotional health.
As we start the upcoming school year, please be aware that I am a resource for
the school community. As your school counselor, I look forward to working with
you and your child to positively impact student growth and overall wellbeing. My
goal is to assist our students in becoming the best citizens possible while here at
Brookhaven.
The Counseling Program at Brookhaven is a comprehensive, developmentally
appropriate program. The Brookahven School Counseling Program will encourage all
students to achieve success by focusing on the knowledge and skills necessary for
academic, emotional and personal growth. I will model this through our “Bobcat
Code”: of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
This school year, I will support students through guidance lessons, individual
counseling, group counseling during/ lunch/recess, as well as additional services
needed and/or requested. As an advocate and leader, I will be committed to
collaborating with our school and community stakeholders to ensure student
success and equity for all.
Please do not hesitate to call me @ 301.460.2140 or email @
[email protected] if your child is having difficulties.
I am looking forward to an exciting school year!
Sincerely,
Krystal Finley
