BEFORE and AFTER Winter Break Reminders:

SSL opportunities during the holiday season must be secular in nature. Both the service
and any funds raised through the activity must address a recognized need in the
community.

Communicate to students, parents and staff that January 9, 2015 is the deadline to
document service performed during the first semester.

Students cannot be awarded SSL hours for participating in any role associated with
school-based entertainment events (athletics, arts etc.) UNLESS the event also addresses
a recognized need in the community by inviting a special audience, donating a portion of
the proceeds to a charitable organization, taking a collection at the door (clothes, food,
hygiene items, etc.). One SSL hour awarded for every hour of the public performance. No
hours for practice/rehearsal will be awarded.
