Nicaragua Rejects Intervention from Powerful Nations at the UN
New York, October 2 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Nicaraguan Vice President Moses Omar Hallesl
evens Acevedo rejected powerful nations interfering in the internal politics of
progressive countries of Latin America, during his speech before the U.N. Genera
l Assembly on Thursday.
"Capitalism has introduced its hand of terror in the countries of Latin America,
trying to establish soft coups, which attempt to destabilize the governments de
mocratically elected by the people," said Halleslevens Acevedo, reading a letter
by President Daniel Ortega.
In the text, Halleslevens Acevedo urged the U.N. to be "a democratic entity that
fulfills the role of peace and equality and to fight for the people in developi
ng nations, specifically the nations of Latin America."
"The U.N. was launched in 1948 as an organization for peace, but these objective
s have not been achieved because of the interests of some powerful (countries),
whose selfishness and arrogance have blocked this path," he said.
He additionally denounced the growing greed of capitalism in the Middle East, wh
ich he said has caused wars across the globe and famine in Africa.
He recalled "the displacement of thousands of Syrian citizens, children, the eld
erly and women suffer the consequences of a few who aspire to control the power

"The justice and peace that was established in the Millennium Development Goals
