STAR Training Series Installing the MS Office Add-in for STAR EPM10 1 10/24/13 Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in Open the workstation’s Excel and check to see if it’s 32 bit or 64 bit (good for Excel 2007, 2010, 2013) • For both 32 bit and 64 bit, Add-in can be found and installed from MyApps. – Some 64 bit installs require additional Microsoft Windows components (.NET 4.0, Visual C++ 2010). If a message appears to this effect during install, desktop support should be contacted to install these components from Microsoft.com. (Instructions on how to determine bit versions follow…) 2 Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in Overview: 1. Check bit version of MS Excel (32 or 64). • • Next slides show how to do this for Office 2010 and then Office 2013. Close Excel when done checking. 2. Adjust Internet Explorer security settings as needed to allow download/install. 3. Install 32 or 64 bit version of the Add-in from MyApps. 4. Open Excel to see if EPM tab is present. • 3 Non-STAR users are not able to connect to the STAR Server. Connection instructions are in a separate document. Checking for Excel bit version – Office 2010 1. 3. 2. 4 Checking for Excel bit version – Office 2013 May be 32 or 64 bit. 5 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in • Only needs to be done once (per STAR computer) • Install from MyApps. • If possible, use Internet Explorer as it allows users to run the download straight away – Some security settings may need to be changed. See the document for changing Internet Explorer security settings. – If a security warning banner appears at the top of the browser screen, click the banner and select ‘Run on all websites’ (or equivalent). 6 Installing the EPM Add-in 1. 2. Open web browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) Make suggested security adjustments per that document if necessary 3. Log-in to the URL: https://myapps.asu.edu 4. Type “STAR” in the search box and select Faculty/Staff: 5. Download and install the appropriate version. Choices are: • • • 32 bit Excel on 32 bit Windows (.NET 3.5) and an update patch (patch listed last); 32 bit Excel on 64 bit Windows (.NET 4.0); 64 bit Excel on 64 bit Windows (.NET 4.0) 5. Make the selections during the Installshield Wizard as shown on the following slides. Screen content may not be exact due to 32 or 64 bit version installed, but the wording will be very similar. 7 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in Download make take 1-2 minutes. If you receive security warnings, allow the download to proceed. An InstallShield wizard will appear after download completes. 2. 1. 8 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in 9 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in This screen may or may not appear during installation. If it does, enter the User name and Organization as prompted and select to install for “Anyone who uses this computer (all users).” 10 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in Note that this is not the default – you must make this important selection. 11 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in Installation takes several minutes (about 5). A Command prompt window may open during this process, but it will close on its own. The “Install Completed” screen will appear when install finishes. 12 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in After installation is complete, all windows can be closed. 13 Downloading and Installing the Microsoft Office Add-in from MyApps Check Install: 1. Open Microsoft Excel. 2.
