about a series of Christmas tale. In this book, the author brings reader into the story that is
full of illusion world.
The story describes a man, Ebenezer Scrooge, was know by everyone to be miserly.
He hated spending money and hated giving money away even more and he has only one
thing to say about Christmas: “ Bah humbug ” Ebenezer Scrooge and Marley had been
good business partners. Each of them wants to be richer than the other. Seven years after
Marley had die, Ebenezer Scrooge still focus on earning more money in his life. He even
hated to buy charcoal for the five, so his office was always cold and dark. That Christmas
night, when he got home, the house seemed to strange; therefore, Ebenezer Scrooge lit a
candle and look around the room. “Bah humbug ” he said, “ no one is here.” Still , he
carefully locked the door. After that Ebenezer hear something else. It was far away, but it
was coming closer. It sounded like chains being dragged across the floor above. Ebenezer
Scrooge nervously shook his head. The ghost said I, Jacob Marley, your old business
partner. Yes, I know it is you, Jacob Marley. Why are you here? The ghost, Jacob Marley,
said Ebenezer scrooge plenty of things and then told him the ghost will come at one in the
morning last three night. The first is Christmas Ghost of Past. He show Ebenezer Scrooge
his past Christmas, He try to make him see his fault by reminding him of better times.
About past Christmas’ s story. “Come” said the ghost. “There is still one child left at the
school” “ I know” said Scrooge sadly. “ I know ” And the ghost could see tears in
Scrooge’s eyes. The school was cold and dark now. One little boy sat reading at a desk.
Scrooge sat down at a desk next to him and began to cry. “It’s, It’s me ” Scrooge said.
“Once, When I was a boy , I was left alone here on Christmas. My father and mother
weren’t at home. Now, suddenly, I wish I had… ” Scrooge’s voice grew quiet. “What?

What do you wish?” the ghost asked politely. ”Nothing, it’s too late now, ” Scrooge said
with heavy sadness. “It’s just that last night a young boy came to my office window and
sang me a Christmas Carol. But I gave him nothing. I just got angry and told him to leave.
Now, I wish I had given him something…” After that he seemed to have some feeling. The
second is “Christmas Ghost of present. He show Ebenezer Scrooge scenes from this
Christmas, which will hopefully convince him to change his miserly ways. About present
Christmas’s story. Soon they were at Bob Cratchit, his clerk’s house. Mrs. Crachit was
setting the table for Christmas dinner with her daughters. They were excited and happy as
the delicious smell of Christmas dinner spread throughout their small, clean home. Just
then Bob Cratchit was coming back from church with the youngest son, Tiny Tim. Tiny
Tim was a very special young boy. He was small for his age, and he couldn’t walk without
the use of crutches. “Merry Christmas, everyone” Bob said. “What is that delicious
smell?” “That’s the Christmas goose, Father!” The younger children shouted. No one said
the goose seemed very small for such a large family. The family all sat down for their
dinner as Scrooge and the ghost watched. Though it was a very simple Christmas meal, the
family was loving and happy. After dinner, they all gathered around the fire. The third is
Christmas Ghost of Future. He must show Ebenezer Scrooge what waits for him in the
future if he remains a heartless, mean old man. About future Christmas’s story. The scene
changed, Scrooge stood before a bed with no blankets or curtains. The bed only had a thin
sheet. Scrooge could see the body of a dead man under the sheet. The ghost pointed for
Scrooge to look at the man’s face. “No, ghost, I cannot look” Scrooge said. His voice was
shaking with fear. “It is so sad. This old man died all alone with no one to love him or
remember him kindly. He didn't care about people, only money. I will never forget this

scene. It is so terrible. Can we please go now?” They were back outside on a city street.
Scrooge couldn’t forget the death of the old man, though. He still didn’t know who it was.
“Please tell me who the dead man was” Scrooge begged the ghost. The ghost just looked
at him quietly and continued to walk. The ghost suddenly stopped at a cemetery. It simply
led him to a grave. Head trembling, he looked up and read the name─ EBENEZER
SCROOGE. Scrooge fell on his knees. “NO, no! It cannot be! ” he cried, “I promise I will
change. Tell me there’s still hope. That why you’re showing me, isn’t it?” The ghost said
nothing. I will celebrate Christmas! I will help people! Please ghost, tell me it is possible
to change my future.” “I still have time!” Scrooge shouted. “I have time to change my
life! Thank you, ghost. ” I will never forget your lessons. Thank you, too, Jacob Marley.
You were always a good friend to me!” Scrooge was very happy to be alive and even
happier to have time to change his future.
I am absorbed in the story when I read it, just because I am attracted by its plot, and it
takes me into the different scene, which is about Ebenezer Scrooge’s past, present, and
future. I consider the novel was well written and the ending is satisfied to me, because I
think therefore, many people consider ghosts are ugly, not well, and maybe harm someone
or even let people die. The author takes advantage of humanistic weak let Ebenezer
Scrooge changes his bad attitude and personality. In the meanwhile, the author also take
this sample let everyone know what the result will come if you don’t want to help the
poor or you are always selfish, maybe it is a kind of the way of warning. I am convinced if
everyone has this experience that is the ghost bring everyone to see his or her past, present
and future may let some of people want to change his bad behaviors and to do better.
Maybe the crime rate would decrease and then we will have pleasant world.

Author: Charles Dickens
Charles Dickens was born in 1812, and he died in 1870. Dickens’ novel are highly
respected for vivid descriptions of the daily life of working-class people. He knew from
his own experience their joys and sorrows. Dickens’ brave and humorous portrayals also
examined injustice and social contradictions. His best-known works include Great
Expectations and Oliver Twist. He was often criticized for trying to appeal to the
sentimental and melodramatic tastes of his readers. But the reason that Dickens, along
with Shakespeare, is held in high regard as a great English novelist is that he created
characters full of humanity and humor. These characters exhibit the faults, resilience, and
vitality of real human beings. On June 9th, 1870, Charles Dickens died. His death was
mourned by the entire world, and he was laid to rest in Westminster Abbey, alongside
England’s other great writers.
