Special Invitation to Seton Associates and Sisters of Charity of Saint

Special Invitation to Seton Associates and
Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth
Dear Seton Associates and Sisters,
We’re all invited to a baby shower!!
The 2016 Sister Julie Scanlan Ministry Project is a baby shower for little Angel
Luís, born last October in Jersey City, New Jersey and in need of just about
everything.
The shower will be held in the Church of Assumption/All Saints on Pacific Avenue
in Jersey City from Noon to 1:30 p.m. in the church hall on Thursday, March 10.
There is a large parking lot adjacent to the Church for us. Bring a sandwich and drink
for your lunch, and a wonderful cake and coffee will be waiting there for us for
dessert. Car-pooling is recommended.
What Angel Needs
By March, Angel will be 6 months old. We should purchase clothing in sizes 12
months, 18 months and two years old so he has clothes to wear now and as he grows
into a big, strong toddler. He needs a dresser, toys, disposable diapers size 3, a swing,
a walker, crib sheets, blankets, potty, and more. Everything. He has a crib.
His mother Jessica needs a few things, too, such as queen-sized sheets – maybe a
whole new bedset of sheets, comforter, shams. She also could use gift cards to WalMart which is near her apartment and carries just about everything including
groceries. Angel’s older sister Zuleka wears sizes 7 or 8 and needs clothes for school
and play.
Put yourself in Angel’s mother’s situation and imagine what you might need. Maybe
she has tired pots and pans and other kitchen utensils and could really use nicer ones?
A vacuum cleaner? Dry mop? Cleaning supplies?
Prayers are gifts, too
If you are unable to attend the shower or participate with a gift, your prayers are
gifts as well. Please hold Jessica and her two children in your heart and ask the Divine
to be present with them, to protect them, and to guide them in holiness.
Let us know…
Please let us know
1. If you will attend Angel’s baby shower on March 10; or
2. If you will participate by sending a gift or gift card; and
3. What you plan to give so we can keep a list and make sure we don’t have too
many duplicates of the larger gifts.
Call Ana Navarro at 973-290-5446 or [email protected] or [email protected]
or Rosemary Carroll at 973-290-5336.
If you are unable to attend the shower in person, you may send or drop your
gifts off at the Seton Associate Office in the Motherhouse. The address is

Extra Gifts Donated to Non Profit for Needy Mothers
We know that we will receive more gifts and gift cards than Angel and his family
can use. The extra donations will be given to a Birthright-type organization in the
Jersey City area so that other mothers and babies in need may be helped by our
ministry project.
Terrific Committee
We are grateful to Seton Associate Pat Lynch, facilitator of the Hudson County
Seton Associates, for serving as Chairperson of this year’s project, and to her
committee of Seton Associates Dr. Lee Perlmutter and Rev. Jim Manos, and also,
Sister Mary Fallon, S.C. Other members of the Hudson Seton Associates who are
helping include Lucille Sproules, Betty Hopf, and Carol Bullock.
Important Year – Needed Effort
The 2016 Sister Julia Scanlan Ministry Project also falls in the Year of Mercy and
during the 40th Anniversary Year of Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Canonization. We are
called as Christians and even more so as members of The Company of Charity to
respond to those in need with charity, mercy, and genuine love from our hearts. This
is our annual ministry project – a little something from each of us will make a vital
impact on mothers and children in need in Jersey City.
Sister Julie picked Angel and his family as our project this year because she knows
the dire situation the family faces. Let us together show them that they live among
God’s family and we will help to provide them with what they need.
Deo volente,
Rosemary
P.S. Angel will be at the shower!!
