Y1 Task notes | Spot the numeral Notes for parents. Activity next page. The purpose of this task is to help your child to: • • • notice numbers around them recognise numbers from 0 to 9 (the numerals) write numbers from 0 to 9 The idea is that your child goes on a hunt looking for (spotting) numbers in and around your home. You may like to print or make a chart like the one on the next page. You could also provide coloured sticky dots. Suggested ways to use the chart: • ave your child predict which number they think they might see most H often and say why. • s your child goes on their ‘hunt’, have them keep track of their finds A by writing the number on the chart in the correct place, or putting a spot beside the number. • Y our child could also ‘spot’ (put a dot on) the places where they find a number. • Can they fill a line? Which number do they ‘spot’ the most? • T alk with them about the numbers they find and where they find them. If your child already correctly reads and writes the 10 numerals, have them play Spot the Number instead.
