Spring 2017 - Rushville State Bank

Knowing What Counts
VOL 2017, NO. 1
RUSHVILLE STATE BANK NEWSLETTER
SPRING 2017
FROM GREGG’S DESK…..
With this edition of “Knowing What Counts”, we embark on our 16 th year of publishing this
quarterly newsletter. Our initial goal was to provide timely information about bank products
that we felt you would be interested in, as well as topics about some of our other services,
community involvement opportunities, and a calendar of upcoming events in Schuyler County.
Looking back, the changes that have taken place in the financial services industry over the past
15 years have been astounding. Continuing advances in technology have altered the landscape
of our business, and in many cases have left some of our old delivery channels completely
obsolete. But one thing that has not changed, and will not change, is our commitment to the
ideals of community banking. We understand that you are the reason we have been able to
serve this area for 127 years, and we truly appreciate your past and future support. We hope
you will stop by the bank on Friday, April 7th to join us as we celebrate Community Banking
Week in Illinois.
Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 26. Please take time to remember and give
thanks for those men and women who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed
forces. Have a great spring, and God Bless the USA!

Debit Card
Compromise Awareness
We all know someone that
has been a victim of debit
card compromise or debit
card fraud and you may
actually have been a victim
yourself.
As a consumer, you are
protected from losses that
are incurred due to
fraudulent or unauthorized transactions made with
your debit card in most cases.
Regardless of these protections, a debit card
compromise or incident of fraud will cause an
inconvenience due to the cancellation of your debit
card; time needed to reissue and mail you a new
card; and the time needed to communicate your
new card number to your service providers.
In order to combat the rising levels of debit card fraud,
Rushville State Bank uses several services to protect
your funds and your potential inconvenience.
Our card processor, Shazam® , offers a fraud scoring
system to detect fraud as it is happening and block
cards until the transactions can be confirmed. They
also offer a mobile-based application available for
smartphone, tablet, and computer users called Shazam
Bolt$™. Both services are “FREE” to Rushville State
Bank customers and both perform different types of
services to help attack fraud and reduce your
inconvenience.
We periodically place “blocks” on certain types of
transactions or transactions that are attempted in
specific states or international
locations.
If you are
attempting a transaction and
it is denied, please contact us
for assistance.
PREMIER
CLUB
by Judy Quillen
On Sunday, June 11th the
Premier Club will be
traveling to Circa’21 in Rock
Island to a dinner theatre.
We will enjoy a delicious
meal and see “Snapshots”,
a musical scrapbook. This
romantic comedy blends
some of the best-loved
music from composer
Stephen
Schwartz’s
Broadway shows (Wicked,
Godspell, and The Baker’s
Wife) with some of his
lesser-known gems.
You’ll meet Sue and Dan, who after 20 years of marriage,
have drifted apart. Together they discover a box of
photographs which leads them to relive the memories of
their past selves and to discover the humorous twists of
how love united them and why life has pushed them
apart.
We will leave the Schuyler County Fair Grounds at 2:00
P.M. on our way to experience the thrill of a live
professional theatre and a performing wait staff,
complemented by fine cuisine, all brought to you in their
beautifully restored historic 1920 theatre. Call or stop by
the Rushville State Bank to sign up for this enjoyable
evening.
Become part of the solution:
- Register the Shazam® Fraud department
telephone number in your mobile device and
answer when they call. Doing so may stop a
fraud in process or may allow an “authorized”
transaction to continue-(866)508-2693.
- Sign up for Shazam Bolt$ ™ on your mobile
device or home computer. It’s FREE and also
may notify you if a fraudulent transaction is
attempted against your account.
- Use your debit card with trusted merchants
and be cautious when using your card on
unsecure websites.
- Notify us of your travel plans so we may be
sure to “allow” your transactions made during
the trip.
- Contact us immediately if you note any
suspicious transactions from your account using
a debit card.
There is still time to sign up for our annual trip with
Collette to Nova Scotia July 17-27, 2017. Some of the
highlights are Halifax, Peggy’s Cove, Cape Breton Island,
Cabot Trail, Prince Edward Island, Fundy Trail, and
Lunenburg. At present we have fourteen people signed up
to enjoy this journey. Pick up a detailed brochure at the
bank.
Save the dates for our

annual trip
to Branson:
You do not have to be fifty-five to travel with us and you
do not have to become a member of the Premier Club;
everyone is welcome to join us on our trips.
We are
always glad to have new members and travelers. Please
stop by or call 217-322-3323 for more information on
