Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS! Work Area Safety • Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas may cause accidents. • Do not operate electrical devices or power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or heavy dust. Electrical devices or power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. • Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating tool. Do not let visitors contact the unit or the extension cord, if any is used with it. Electrical Safety • Do not operate the system with electrical components removed. Exposure to internal parts increases the risk of injury. • Avoid exposure to rain or wet conditions. Keep unit out of direct contact with water. Water entering electrical devices increases the risk of electric shock. • Plug unit into properly grounded outlets only. Do not use adapter plugs or remove the grounding prong from the unit’s plug. Grounding is important to provide a low-resistance path to carry electricity away from the user in the event of an electrical malfunction. • Do not abuse cord, plug or cables of unit. Do not use the power cord to carry the unit or yank the power cord to unplug the unit. Replace damaged cords immediately. • Use only three-pronged, grounded extension cords of the correct minimum wire gauge. The combined specified amperage for the monitor and the DVDR is 1 A. The following wire gauges are recommended as minimal: 18-25 feet (6-8 m): 18 AWG 26-50 feet (8.5-16 m): 16 AWG 51-100 feet (17-33 m): 14 AWG • Use a GFCI receptacle if using an extension cord. • Connect only to recommended voltage outlets as shown on the rear of the unit. (110-120 VAC 60 Hz U.S/220-240 VAC 50 Hz European). 2 • Do not use unit with electrical components exposed or with protective covers removed. Do not expose the LCD Monitor+DVD to moisture or rain. Only the cable and camera used in pipe inspection systems are water-proof. The LCD Monitor+DVD is not water-resistant. Water entering the unit housing increases the risk of electrical shock. • Do not power up the LCD Monitor+DVD with the cover closed. • Allow a minimum of 3" (80 mm) clearance on all sides and on top of the unit during operation. Personal Safety • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not use diagnostic tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medications. A moment of inattention while operating tools may result in serious personal injury. • Gloves should always be worn for health and safety reasons. Sewer lines are unsanitary and may contain harmful bacteria and viruses. • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations. • Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions. • Use proper accessories. Do not place this product on any unstable cart or surface. The product may fall causing serious injury to a child or adult or serious damage to the product. • Prevent object and liquid entry. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product. Liquid increases the risk of electrical shock and damage to the product. • Avoid Traffic. Pay close attention to moving vehicles when using on or near roadways. Wear visible clothing or reflector vests. Such precautions may prevent serious injury. LCD Monitor+DVD Use and Care • Use equipment only as directed. Do not operate the LCD Monitor+DVD unless the owner’s manual has been read and proper training has been completed. • Do not immerse the unit in water. Store in a dry place. Such measures reduce the risk of electric shock and damage. LCD Monitor+DVD • Do not position the equipment in such a way that it is difficult to unplug the power cord. • If liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into product; • Store idle equipment out of the reach of children and other untrained persons. Equipment is dangerous in the hands of untrained users. • If product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions; • Maintain the instrument with care. Properly maintained diagnostic instruments are less likely to cause injury. • If the product has been dropped or damaged in any way; • When the product exhibits a distinct change in performance. • Check for breakage of parts, and any other conditions that may affect the LCD Monitor+DVD’s operation. If damaged, have the instrument serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained tools. • Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for the LCD Monitor+DVD. Accessories that may be suitable for one instrument may become hazardous when used on another. • Keep handles dry and clean; free from oil and grease. Allows for better control of the instrument. In any correspondence, please give all the information shown on the nameplate of your monitor including model number and serial number. • Protect against excessive heat. The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Specific Safety Information Service • Diagnostic instrument service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified repair personnel could result in injury. • When servicing a diagnostic instrument, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance Section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions may create a risk of electrical shock or injury. WARNING Read this operator’s manual carefully before using the LCD Monitor+DVD. Failure to understand and follow the contents of this manual may result in electrical shock, fire and/or severe personal injury. Important Notice • Follow instructions for changing accessories. Accidents are caused by poorly maintained equipment. The LCD Monitor+DVD is a diagnostic tool that displays and records images received from a camera to indicate the location and nature of conditions inside a pipe, duct, or similar passage. Locations of blockages, etc., may not be correctly interpreted based solely on inspection of such images. It is important to verify the location of underground objects before excavating. • Provide proper cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. Be sure to follow local guidelines and one call service procedures. • Conduct a safety check. Upon completion of any service or repair of this product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product is in proper operating condition. Exposing the utility is the only way to verify it’s existence, location and depth. • Damage to the product that requires service. If you have inserted a DVD-RW disc, a window will appear offering an option to do a Quick Preparation or a Full Preparation. The Quick Preparation is faster, but will require finalizing the disc after recording to it, before it can be played on other DVD players. 5. Do not use in conditions colder than 36°F (5°C) or warmer than 104°F (40°C). 6. Do not allow moisture into the unit or the remote control. 7. If power is lost while recording the current recording will not be saved. If the disc has no prior recordings on it, the disc will not be able to make new ones after a power loss. 9 LCD Monitor+DVD Recording Audio Audio is recorded through the built-in microphone in front of the LCD Monitor+DVD unit.
