This week represents No Name Calling week. Please join the Somers GSA Club
and sign a pledge, in the cafeteria, on Wednesday to celebrate kindness. This
pledge asks you to:
 Not bully other students or call them hurtful names.
 Intervene, if you can, in situations where students are being called names.
 Support efforts to end bullying and name calling.
SHS SKI AND SNOWBOARD TRIP—FEBRUARY 4, 2017
The high school is planning a ski and snowboard trip on Saturday, February 4,
2017. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Soni or Mr. Bayer.
All Art NHS members and candidates-- please bring in a piece of art work for
the induction ceremony. Drop off the art in Room 145C.
STAT Club is collecting character blankets to give to underprivileged children in
the Westchester area. Please being in new, fuzzy blankets with designs or portraits
of Disney, Pixar, or other children’s characters. The collection box is in the Writing
Center and the drive ends Thursday, January 26th.
CAP AND GOWN ORDERS
Seniors, cap and gown order forms are available in the main office, or you can place
your order online at www.jostens.com. Make sure to select Somers Central School
in Lincolndale, New York.
Attention Sophomores: If you are interested in learning more about the courses offered at the
tech center, a representative will be here at 9:00 am on January 24 th. Please sign up in the
Counseling Office. If you have questions or want more details about BOCES, please see your
counselor.
Class of 2017 Lip Sync Battle
The Class of 2017 will be sponsoring a Lip Sync Battle on March 2nd. They are hoping to
have faculty and staff participate in the competition. If you are interested, please consider
signing up. Voices not required :)
ALGEBRA TUTORING SESSIONS—HELD AT SOMERS LIBRARY CONF.

The tutoring sessions focus on topics found in the Algebra I class and are geared
towards students who are currently taking Algebra I or planning to take it next
year. These sessions will be moderated by Somers student Nitin Seshadri, who has
created a website called Mathematica. Please register by contacting Tara Ferretti at

College and Career Center Events
Students can view the complete list of colleges scheduled to visit Somers High School on Naviance by
selecting the “Colleges” tab and then clicking “View all upcoming college visits.” From there, students
can sign up to attend the visits. Students must bring a signed pass from their teacher if they are missing
a class to attend a college visit. All visits will take place in the College and Career Center located across
