The distinctive double pitched slate roof is pierced by two dormers and a single chimney which serves the interior fireplaces. The rear of the house features an elegant and spacious addition—likely commissioned by former owner, author, and socialite Helen Pitkin Schertz between 1909 and 1935—which is accentuated by enormous windows and two 12 foot tall, double hung Spanish wrought iron doors.
