Missed assignments and assessments

You are responsible if you are missing work from being absent.

If you are absent, you are expected to check the website and complete any missed
work.

If you are absent, you must bring a note from home within THREE days of returning
to class in order to receive full credit on make-up work.

If you are absent and it is unexecused, the highest grade you may receive is a 60%.

If you are late turning in any projects or papers then you will receive a 10-point

● Telephones/Portable Electronic Devices: These may be used according
to our school’s BYO Electronic Device Policy for academic purposes only if
BYOD sign in classroom is green.
● Cell phones and other devices may not be used or visible while BYOD
sign is flipped to RED!

Supplies
● Supplies: Please be prepared for class daily with the following:

Single-subject notebook that is only for Spanish notes
○ Sharpened pencil or pen and 1-2 dry erase markers for classroom use.
○ Your personal electronic device- (if not possible to BYOD then let me
know on the form attached to syllabus)
○ Headphones or “earbuds” for use with your device or computers in
class

● Each unit will feature “Can-Do Statements” outlining what you should be
able to do with the language at the end of the unit
● Check off a specific can-do statement when you are able to demonstrate
that you can perform that specific task.

Academic Dishonesty
● Cheating of any kind including the overuse of an Internet translator is
unacceptable.
● 1st Offense: Referral and you may have the opportunity to re-do the
assignment and receive a maximum possible grade of 60%
● 2nd Offense: Referral and you will receive a zero for the assignment.
● Please see the WHS handbook for our school policy.
Online translators are not your friend!
Classroom Rules & Responsibilities

Consequences for not following

EOC and Final Exam
● End-of-Course Assessment:
○ We will have an EOC assessment at the end of the semester to
measure growth in language proficiency.
○ EOC will count as a minor grade that ALL students will take at the end
of the semester

Final Exam
○ We will have a final, cumulative assessment in this class in addition to
the EOC.
○ Final exam will count 20% of the semester grade.
○ Seniors with at least a 90 average will be able to exempt this exam.

Stamp Sheet
●
How it works:
○ If you PARTICIPATE in class: volunteering, contributing to class discussion,
answering questions, getting “caught” doing the right thing, etc.
■ You get 1 Stamp
○ You need to FILL your stamp sheet by the end of each grading period
○ IF you fill one stamp sheet before the end of the grading period:
■ The extra stamps will count as “extra credit”
● Extra credit for stamps DOES NOT mean extra points on your grade!!
● For each stamp square you have extra, you may cut out the stamp
square and write notes on the back of it to bring in during a quiz or
test
