From the Headmaster
With our second round of Entrance Assessments almost complete, all results, including
those for our Year 6 children who sat the Senior Schools' Examinations, will be posted next
Friday via First Class Post.
Before the results are announced, we have had to contend with excitement of a different
nature, watching the transformation of the Fairfield skyline this week. I regularly set aside
a few moments every morning to stand on the White House steps and watch the giant
Meccano set, which is, of course, our new build taking shape.
I hope you have all taken the opportunity to have a peek through the viewing panels too!
Next week all pupils will be given a letter regarding the LAMDA Examinations that
take place in the Summer term. It is important that parents read the letter as this
explains what their child will be working on in class this term and how they can
support them with their work in preparation for the examination. For pupils new to
LAMDA Examinations, there will be additional information for parents so that they
are able to make an informed choice regarding whether they would like their child
to be entered for an examination.
The Spring term invoice will be attached to this letter and I would be most grateful
if payments could be made promptly.
The letter and invoice will be given to pupils in their LAMDA lesson and they will
be asked to bring it home in their folder. Please contact me via email if your child
forgets to bring their folder home [email protected]. Thank you.
Kind regards
Karen Chapman
Following their JDC assessments, congratulations go to the following: Imogen O’Neill, Izzy
Archer, Elise Atkinson, Charlotte Parker and Keira Acheson, who have been successful in
selection for the Leicestershire U13 Hockey Junior Academy Centre. This is a super
achievement in light of their age and we wish them well in their forthcoming training and
County Tournaments.
India-Rose Cudbill (5R) has gained her black belt in Mixed Martial Arts. She has been
training for 4 years. Well done India-Rose!
Congratulations to Sareena Khan (5W) who passed her Grade 4 ABRSM Piano exam in
December. Well done Sareena!
There will be a goggles sale all week from Monday 19th January - Friday 23rd
January in the PE Office - 50p a pair. Please see Miss Greasley if you are interested.
Asha King (3Y) lost his blazer at the end of last term. Please can everyone check the
name in their blazer. If found please return to Asha. Thank you.
Rohit Krishnan (6B) has lost his new boot bag with new football boots in. The bag is red and
named and the boots are red puma ones, also named. Could children please check games
bags at the weekend and everyone keep an eye out for them in changing rooms and
cloakrooms. Thank you.

U 11 ‘A’ Football v Brooke Priory
The ’A’ team kicked off their season with a tricky away tie against Brooke Priory. We started brightly; keeping
possession well and closing down quickly without the ball. It wasn't long before we had opened up a 3 goal lead
and went into the break 3-1 ahead. The second half was a closer affair, with Brooke counter attacking quickly and
dangerously. They pulled a goal back just after the interval, but another 2 Fairfield goals resulted in a
much-deserved 5-2 victory. A super start to the season, but we must work on getting behind the ball in preparation
for LGJS next Wednesday.
SPORTS REPORTS
U 11 ‘B’ Football v Brooke Priory
Fairfield U11 ‘B’ team travelled to Brooke Priory for their first fixture of the season. Fairfield started strong
scoring 3 goals within the first 10 minutes of the game. Brooke Priory did pull 1 back, however, Fairfield
continued to attack making it 4-1 at half time. Fairfield did not hold back during the second half and scored a
further 4, making the full time score 8-1. All the boys played extremely well throughout the game. Our target for
the next game is to ‘get back’ faster, to ensure we don’t get caught on the break.
SPORTS REPORTS
U 11 ‘C’ Football v Brooke Priory
On Wednesday 14th January Fairfield U11 ‘C’ team played away at Brooke Priory. The boys dominated
territory and possession in the first half. They worked hard at closing down the opposition and
deserved their 3 - 0 lead at half time. The decision was made to give players the opportunity to play in
different positions in the second half and this undoubtedly affected the flow of the game. Despite still
making chances in front of goal only one was taken making the final score 4 - 0 to Fairfield.
Well played everyone. The boys must now work on using the full width of the pitch.
