First Grade Learning Targets 20152016 REGIONAL SCHOOL UNIT #22 RSU #22 is committed to the optimal learning of all students. As RSU 22 continues to move towards meeting 2018 graduation expectations, we have elected to look at proficiency learning targets K12. Rather than only the high school being responsible to report student proficiency, we have created some initial targets at each grade level. We know that some children may be able to meet standards beyond the targets listed at the grade level. We also know that some students will need more time to meet the expectations. Standards Scored on the Report Card: Counting and Cardinality Understands greater than, less than, or equal to for objects using terms and symbols (<, >, =). Operations and Algebraic Thinking Write or draw addition facts to 10 in more than one way (2+3=5, 4+1=5) Knows addition facts 0 20. Number and Operations in Base Ten Understands the concept of place value (tens and ones place) for numbers 11 to 19. Understands that a whole is made up of parts. Understand what the digits of a two digit number (2099) represent (tens and ones place). Measurement and Data Understands that time to the hour and halfhour on an analog clock Understands the value of a collection of like coins Geometry All content at this standard is at an introductory level. Additional concepts introduced: Counting and Cardinality Counting backwards from 20 to 1 Skip counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 100 Naming numbers before and after a given numbers upto 100 Read, write and order whole numbers to 100 Operations and Algebraic Thinking Add and subtract within 20 Solve addition and subtraction word problems Understand and apply properties of operations and the relationship between addition and subtraction Work with addition and subtraction problems Number and Operations in Base Ten Use place value understanding to add and subtract Use drawings to represent and explain fractions Measurement and Data Compare lengths of objects Use graphs to answer simple questions Geometry Identify and describe 2D and 3D shapes Understands Symmetry
