Theatre School Class for Year 2 students
A Year 2 class started on Tuesday 24 July. The class,
held at the Theatre on Tuesday afternoons from 4.30 to
5.30pm, is a new initiative for YPT.
If you have children in Year 1 who would like to join a
Year 2 in 2013, please complete a Waiting List Form at
the Office

From the President
Since the last Spotlight I travelled to New York with
Hunter Singers. While in New York I visited Times
Square and attended a number of Broadway shows.
Unbiased as I am, I believe Babe the Sheep Pig is on a
par with many of the productions showing there.
Many Hunter Singers also attend YPT which probably
explains why the Singers excelled at the recent World
Choir Games in Cincinnati winning one gold and two
silver medals. Well done Hunter Singers!

Buy Pies! Support Lighting Board purchase
Changing technology has caught up with YPT! The
lighting board, installed when the rebuilt Theatre was
opened in 1999, had become challenging to use.
To support the purchase of the new lighting board we
are conducting some fund raising events, commencing
with a Thompson’s Pie Drive.
A list of goodies and an Order Sheet is attached.

Our Christmas production tells a story about the origin of
many Christmas traditions, intermixed with your favourite
songs and a few surprises!!

Claire’s Corner
From the Artistic Director
Welcome back to Semester 2!
Charming and delightful. Those were the words that
repeatedly came to mind while I watched this stage
adaptation by David Wood of the novel by Dick KingSmith about a pig brought up by a sheep dog that
becomes a champion sheep herder.
This quote from Ken Longworth in his review of Babe
the Sheep Pig reflects what we feel about this
production. Congratulations to the cast, crew and
directors!! Don’t miss out! Buy your tickets soon!
We had an excellent first half of the year and I'm looking
forwards to getting back to classes and seeing some
more amazing work!

* Musical Theatre classes: we are looking for people who
enjoy singing and bringing a song to life! Classes, from
4.30pm to 5.30pm on Monday or Tuesday, are open to
students currently enrolled in YPT Theatre School
classes. Email us for more information.
* Keep an eye out for Semester 2 student workshops and
the YPT Factor Song Competition in Term 4

Rehearsals are underway for Hansel and Gretel. It is
shaping up to be an exciting and entertaining production
with lots of families involved in their first YPT
production.
Auditions for Christmas Trees, Tinsel and Everything
Bright are scheduled for Sunday 9 September. More

Theatre School clothing policy
YPT policy is that students wear clothing suitable for
exercise and movement to classes. For safety reasons,
students are asked not to wear high heeled shoes,
thongs, strappy sandals, etc.
Please do not put tutors in the difficult position of
excluding your child from participating in class activities.
