St Olympia Info Flyer - St. Olympia Orthodox Church

Vladyka Michael blesses our mission by naming St. Olympia as our patron saint on April 1, 2015 St. Olympia Orthodox Mission in Potsdam, NY, is young church community under the Orthodox Church of America, Diocese of New York/New Jersey in cooperaDon with the Monastery of St. Silouan the Athonite, OCA Archdiocese of Canada. Divine Liturgies are held on the first and third Sundays of each month. On weeks when there are no services in Potsdam, there are carpools leaving for the chapel at St. Silouan’s Monastery near Spencerville, Ontario (about 45 minutes from Potsdam). For many years prior to the establishment of this mission, St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown, NY, came to Potsdam twice a year to hold a liturgy. The services offered by this mission parish augment those offerings. July 25th
St. Olympia the Deaconess
We are a mulD-‐ethnic parish and thus far have had “cradle Orthodox” from Albanian, Eritrean, Greek, Ukrainian, Romanian and Russian roots as well as worshippers who have chosen to become Orthodox. Our musical tradiDon is as varied as our parishioners. We may be the only parish to have St. Olympia the Deaconess as our patron saint. Her life has been a true inspiraDon to us. You can find out more about her and our mission on the web at h[p://saintolympiaorthodoxchurch.org/ While some events are held on the college campus, most liturgies are celebrated in a private chapel and we cannot adverDse its locaDon because of zoning restricDons. If you would like to visit us please contact s u c h y j r @ p o t s d a m . e d u f o r f u r t h e r informaDon. Most holy Saint Olympia, pray for us! ceivr J. Suchy-Pilalis
