The conference’s mission has been to promote historic horticulture, garden history, and landscape restoration in the southern states, presenting topics of interest to the professional and layman alike and providing participants an opportunity to learn and share information about this field in the South. The 2oth Conference recognizes several major themes in southern landscape restoration that have gained attention and momentum in the years since the conference’s founding, including heirloom gardening and seed saving, restoring the early 2oth-century southern garden, the African American farm and garden landscape, and early images of the southern landscape.
