Fractions The top part of a fraction is called the numerator, The bottom part is called the denominator. 1 of £20 4 2 of £35 5 5 of £18 6 One quarter → 20 4 = 5 One fifth → 35 5 = 7 Two fifths → 2 7 = £14 One sixth → 18 6 = 3 Five sixths → 5 3 = £15 To find one fourth we divide by 4 To find two fifths we first find one fifth by dividing by five, Then multiply by two.
