Testing Times Ahead
The annual end of year assessments
will commence next week –
Monday 17th May.
Now is good a time to ensure that all
homework is completed, tables and
spellings are revised and that reading
is completed daily.
The results of this testing will form
part of the written Annual Report
issued in June.
Tesco Vouchers
Please send in any Tesco Vouchers for School
soon as the scheme is now coming to a close.
Well done to the children who
participated in the feis. We had an
outstanding success with winners in all
categories and at all ages. Reports from
the Feis have said that the standard of
spoken Irish at St Mary’s was at times
outstanding. So maith thu to all the
children.
A special word of thanks, to you the
parents, for transporting the children to
and from the venue.

Extended Schools
Thank you to everyone who has supported
our extended schools programme and to
those who completed an evaluation. Your
views are very welcome to ensure we are
meeting the needs of the community
We are still awaiting news of extended
schools funding for the new financial year.
Hopefully we will be able resume at least
some of our extended school clubs in the
not too distant future.

Congratulations
Congratulations to all the Primary 7
children who received the sacrament of
Confirmation on Thursday 29th April.
Their group photograph will take place
this week .All Primary 7 children are
asked to bring with them their
Confirmation clothes to change into.
Uniform
Many thanks to those of you who
returned the uniform questionnaire.
The outcomes of this consultation
were: 61% in favour and 39 % not in
favour of the changes.
This result means that we will proceed
with the amendments to the uniform
for September 2010. Further details
will follow.
First Communion
The Primary 4 children will make their First Holy Communion on Saturday 5th June at 11.00am in St.
Mary’s Church
Immediately after the service there will be a reception for the children in the school and this year we have
asked PJ Campbell (photographer) to set up a studio in the school to take individual photographs of the
children and or family groups. There will as usual be a group photograph at the altar immediately following
the ceremony.
Parents of our Primary 3 children are asked to contribute biscuits/buns/sandwiches for the reception in
school. A note will be issued with more details prior to the date.
Greater Armagh City and District project
Birthdays Celebrations
The Northern Ireland Commission for Catholic Education recently released its Post Primary
Review proposals for the Greater Armagh City and District project. This project includes the
‘Greater Dungannon Area’. These proposals are intended to address the challenges facing the
planning and delivery of education for 11 – 19 year olds within the Catholic sector. These
proposals are now open for consultation until 31st May and the views of parents would be
welcome.
We have distributed copies of the proposals before Easter. Additional copies are available from
the display stand outside the secretary’s office. Alternatively the proposals for the Greater
Armagh City and District project can be viewed online at www.pprce.org
We will also be uploading a link to the Greater Armagh City and District project proposals on
the Links page of our school web site.
We encourage parents to read the proposals carefully and make considered responses to the
Post Primary Review body as these proposals will have an undoubted impact on the secondary
education provision for our children and our parish
ECO SCHOOLS
The Eco school committee have been very busy organising the
‘Cash for Clobber’’ bag return. This successful adventure
earned them £100 and they are considering how to put it to
best use.
Emma Bloomer organised a visit from the ‘Bag Lady’ on Friday
23rd April where the children from P4-7 were able to hear first
hand about real things to actively do to help us lead more
sustainable lives. Maybe your family could take a pledge by
following the instructions on her website at
