Before the Competition Please ensure that your entry form is completed in full, legible form and sent with your entry fee to, Kristine Michaud at 21234 - 94B Avenue, Langley BC V1M 1M9. All entry forms must be received before the entry deadline as no late entries will be accepted. Also attached is the 2014 BCPA/CPU Membership Application which will need to be completed in full as well and sent separately with your membership fee to the Registrar, Noorita Biring, #222, 12085 - 228th Street, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 6M2. You will be provided with a CPU Membership card which you will be required to have with you at all BCPA competitions. Please make sure that your membership application form is submitted to the Registrar as soon as possible. Equipment If you will be lifting unequipped, you will be required to have following equipment: IPF approved singlet Cotton T-Shirt (no logos, v-neck, or pockets) Knee length socks Athletic shoes Underwear (no boxers or boxer briefs) Please note the above list is the minimum amount of equipment that you will need to enter into this competition. For a complete list of approved items, please review the IPF Rules starting on page 11. You can find a link to the Rules on the BCPA website. Day of Competition Equipment Check Equipment check will be begin 1/2 hour before the weigh-ins and will be done on a first come, first serve order. This is where all of your clothing and equipment that you intend to wear while competing will be checked by a BCPA Official to insure that it meets the IPF standards. You will also need to have your CPU Membership card to show to the Official. Before you start your weigh-ins you will need to find out what your squat rack heights, bench press and safety rack heights are. Try to get this information either before the equipment check and definitely before your weigh-ins. As well, you will need to know what your first attempts will be for the Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. This information will be required when you are being weighed in. If you will be competing in the Bench Press Only competition, you will only be required to get your Bench Press and safety rack heights as well as what your first attempt will be. Weigh In The order of the weigh in is determined by what your Lot Number will be. The Lot Numbers are randomly chosen and assigned to the lifters. This ensures that there are no weigh-in bias. Weigh-ins will take place no earlier than 2 hours before the start of the competition for a particular session and can last up to 90 minutes. If you weigh in heavier than the weight you originally entered in, you may have the option to be re-weighed. You will have 90 minutes from when the weigh-in started to try to make weight and only if time allows. If you do no make weight, you will have to move up to the next weight class. Before you are weighed-in, you will be asked for your Squat, Bench Press and Safety Rack heights. You will also be asked if you will need foot blocks for the Bench Press. At this time, you will need to provide the Official your first attempts for the Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift. If you do not have all of the above information, you will be moved to the end of the weigh-in order list. Once all of this information has been received by the official, you will be given a packet of attempt cards. These will be the cards that you will use to submit your next attempts for each lift. Do not lose these attempt cards. Warming Up You can start warming up at anytime. There will be 4 warm-up platforms available to use. You will be required to use the provided bar collars. At this time, courtesy and safety is the best rule of thumb. If everyone helps each other with loading and unloading weight from the bar, everyone's warm up will run smoother. Competition The first attempt lifting order will be posted shortly after the weigh-ins have been completed. You will have the opportunity to change your opening attempt 5 minutes before the start of the competition. When you are called to the platform, you will have one minute to begin the lift. Once the lift has been completed, you will then have 1 minute to submit your next attempt to the scorekeeper's table. If you do not submit your next attempt within that 1 minute, that attempt will not be accepted. In that instance, you will be given a 2.5kg increase on your next attempt if you completed the lift. If you did not complete the lift, your next attempt will be the same weight. Please note that this is a drug-tested contest. Once a lifter has weighed in they accept the IPF drug-testing procedure in full, and from that moment on is in the contest. The lifter may not exit from the contest before its completion even if they bomb out. This may be viewed as a refusal to submit a sample for anti-doping control, and if so, will result in immediate disqualification from the contest and suspension from the BCPA and CPU. If you broke a BCPA record in one or more of your completed lifts, please remember to submit your completed Records Application form to the Records Chair within 30 days from the date of the competition. For a complete list of rules, please see the IPF Rulebook on the BCPA website (www.bcpowerlifting.com). If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me. I hope the above information will help you. Good Luck!
