Baptism: Fir st Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM. Parents
must come to the Rectory with the with child’s original birth
certificate at least one or two months in advance. Instruction is
held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00 PM. For more
information please contact the Rectory.

The Church is inviting
us to keep vigil and not
to sleep! What does
"sleeping" mean? It
means to live without
crying out to the Lord,
without asking for his
merciful help. It means
refusing God as the
One who is sending
the Savior to those in
need – you and I. It
means not being willing to recognize one's sins and being without any
desire to reject pride. Last Sunday the Church
urged us, therefore, to enter into the spiritual
fight through prayer. This time of Advent is for
all nations, but it is fundamentally for those who
want to be saved: may are not interested. It has
the purpose to raise in us a desire to convert, to
abandon our sins and to follow ever closely the
Word of God. This is only possible through prayer. To pray is to put oneself beneath the mantle
of God's grace. Consequently, He sees our desire
to stay with him – in the Church here below and
in Heaven there Above. There are three comings
of the Lord. The first was more than two thousand years ago; the second will be at the end of
Time, and the third is in the Liturgy we live.
Consequently, today John the Baptist is calling
us to conversion. In other words, to repent, to ask
the Holy Spirit so to enter into the will of God.
Today an answer is necessary: do I want to continue to live in my own self-righteousness, doing
my own will without any intention to give up my
life for my neighbor, and so to experience the
Trinity living in me? Or I do act like those Pharisees and Sadducees who went to the Jordan and
confessed their sins? Many went but not all.
Though it is true that God is good and merciful,
we cannot be saved if we do not show a desire of
conversion – if we do not ask the Lord's help to
destroy in us the hills and mountains of our pride.
We cannot be saved without the desire to abandon sin. Let us take this Advent seriously: because the "ax is already at the root of the trees" of
our life. Let us then welcome our Savior in the
Sunday's Liturgies, especially in the Word of
God; let us not "sleep," running the risk to miss
Eternal Salvation.

SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO
Juan llevaba un vestido de piel
de camello, con una correa de
cuero a la cintura, y se alimentaba de saltamontes y miel silvestre. La figura del Bautista
es el precursor, el anunciador
de quien viene detrás y que
bautizará en el Espíritu y fuego. Todas las expresiones están orientadas en la misma dirección: el cumplimiento de un tiempo y de una promesa anunciada para los
tiempos mesiánicos. Los dos términos "Espíritu y
fuego" sólo tienen sentido adecuado si los interpretamos en este marco. La Iglesia sigue siendo, en su
evangelización, una precursora. No puede olvidar
nunca que el Salvador, el único Salvador, es Jesús:
Nadie más que Jesús puede salvarnos, pues sólo a
través de él nos concede Dios a los hombres la salvación sobre la tierra Y también cada creyente es un
precursor con su vida y con su palabra del Salvador
que está presente aunque oculto. El salvador está ya
cerca de los hombres, es necesario que alguien les
anuncie que es así. Porque sólo Jesús da sentido
pleno a la vida humana.
