World Mission Sunday: Today, World Mission Sunday, we celebrate our unity in faith as brothers and sisters of a worldwide church. We celebrate the work of Missio, formerly the Association for the Propagation of the Faith (APF). Thanks to all who donate through the “Red Mission Boxes” that raised £2196.74 in 2014 and a big thank you to Tony Brisbourne, our parish organiser. Baptisms: Congratulations to the Brewer family whose twins Ella Grace & Frank James will be baptised and welcomed into the Church this Sunday. Fr. Brian Whatmore: We were shocked and saddened to hear the news of Fr. Brian’s sudden death in Teneriffe on Monday last. We thank God for his ministry among us and in the Parishes of the Deanery as well as other Parishes throughout the Archdiocese since his ordination to the Priesthood on the 22nd February 2000. We await the completion of formalities for his body to be repatriated and then we will have details of his Funeral arrangement here at St. Austin’s. May God grant him eternal peace and rest. Knit & Natter Group: The Group will meet in the Parish Room on Tuesday at 2.00 p.m. All are welcome. They would be very grateful for donations of wool especially double knit. Church Cleaning: All help will be appreciated with the Church cleaning after the morning Mass on Monday. Study Evenings: All are welcome to the first of the four Study and Reflection evenings arranged by our Justice & Peace Group on Pope Francis’ Encyclical “Laudato Si” in the Parish Room at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday next 21st October. The other meetings will be on the 4th November, 18th November and 2nd December. Padre Pio Prayer Group: The Group’s monthly meeting will be in the Parish Room at 10.30 a.m. on Friday next. Prayer Vigil on Global Climate Change: All are welcome to Vigil of Prayer at St. Mary’s Church in Stafford from 12.00 Noon to 3.00 p.m. on Saturday 31st October. Brushstrokes: All at Brushstrokes are very thankful for our continuous support. A special thank you to the Prayer Group for their recent donations and to Blessed Mother Teresa & St. Austin’s schools for their wonderful food collections for the Harvest Mass. Brushstrokes is helping many refugees and asylum seekers and the amount of people requiring food, clothes and household essentials is increasing steadily all the time. From September 2014 ton2015 practical help has been provided for almost 1,100 people. As the weather gets colder there is urgent need of clothes especially smaller sizes for men and women as well as blankets, kitchen utensils and bedding. Brushstrokes also gives “Bumper Start” baby packs to destitute mothers containing essential goods for new born babies. At the moment the following items would be welcome. Baby clothes 0-3 months, baby bottles, baby wipes, nappies, little blankets, suitable soft toys, baby powder, shampoo, bath oil and powder, baby blankets, towels, pacifiers, and large sturdy bags.
