REMINDERS
DRESS CODE POLICY REMINDER
Casual, golf, or tennis attire is appropriate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Collared shirts
are required for men at dinner. Swimwear, tank tops, plain t-shirts, and cover-ups are not
acceptable in any Clubhouse. Denim is permissible at The Beach Club and Marsh House
only. Ladies’ colored or white denim is acceptable at all other Club facilities. Shirts and
shoes must be worn at all times while inside any Club facility.
GUEST POLICY REMINDER
ACCOMPANIED GUESTS
1. Members may accompany guests to any Club facility at any time throughout the year.
2. Neither advanced notice nor guest cards are required.
3. Accompanied guests are limited to seven per day.
UNACCOMPANIED GUESTS (SPONSORED)
1. Members may sponsor guests to use the Club facilities unaccompanied. Extended family
guests may be approved for up to four days. Non-family unaccompanied guests* are restricted
to two days, and non-peak times of the year. Specifically, non-family guests are not permitted:
a. Seven days surrounding major holidays—Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July,
Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
b. Use of The Beach Club (pool, beach, and locker rooms) and/or Marsh House
(pool and locker rooms) from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
2. Advanced notice is required via a signed Guest Authorization Form or through completion of
the Guest Pass Request on the Club website.
3. Upon approval of unaccompanied guest privileges, the Club issues a temporary guest card
which must be carried by the guest at all times when utilizing the Club facilities.
4. Each guest may be sponsored no more than two times per year.
GUEST PRIVILEGES
1. Fees and charges for any services are charged directly to the sponsoring Member’s Club
account. Cash or credit payments are not permitted. Sponsoring Members are responsible for
all unpaid fees and charges incurred by their guests.
a. Facility usage fees are incurred per person per day from The Beach Club,
Marsh House, and the Sports Pavilion.
2. Guests are allowed to use the Club facilities only in accordance with the privileges of the
membership of the sponsoring Member.
3. Sponsoring Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests while utilizing the Club
amenities, including the acknowledgement of the Club dress code.
* Extended Family Guests are parents, adult children, grandchildren, and daughters/sons-in-law.

EXCURSION: CHARLESTON WINE + FOOD
FESTIVAL – HOOKED ON BOWENS
Thursday, March 2
3:00 p.m.
A culinary spectacle awaits as chefs from coastal
cities—including the Kiawah Island Club’s very own
Executive Chef Doug Blair—prepare the ultimate
finned feast, featuring remarkable catches and trophy
fish. Toe-tappin’ live music, crisp and refreshing
white wines, an array of Don Julio cocktails,
and stunning marsh views are sure to have you
swooning. Don’t miss the second installment of one
of the most talked-about events of last year’s festival!
The cost is $185.00 per person and includes the
event and water transportation to Bowens Island
Restaurant. The Club Boat departs from Rhett’s Bluff
promptly at 3:00 p.m. and returns at approximately

MEMBER MINGLE (RC)
Friday, March 3
5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
On the first Friday of each month, the Club invites
Members and their guests to the Member Mingle
at the River Course clubhouse! The Mingle offers
complimentary cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres in
a relaxing atmosphere where you can visit with
old friends and meet new ones. Reservations are
not necessary.

FESTIVAL – CANNON GREEN SIGNATURE DINNER
Friday, March 3
6:00 p.m.
Two female chef powerhouses unite for one epic
dinner at the stunning Cannon Green dining room
downtown. Charleston Chef Amalia Scatena joins
forces with Los Angeles Chef Nancy Silverton.
The pair’s collaborative menu is accompanied with
wines presented by California’s Jeremy Weintraub of
Adelaida. Bright flavors marry one coast to another–
cheers to that!

PRO-AM INVITATIONAL (CSQ/RC/OC)
Sunday, March 12 – Tuesday, March 14
The first golf tournament of 2017 is a
54-hole Modified Stableford competition. Four
competitors—a Member, their invited professional,
and two amateur guests—play as a team, each
playing their own ball. Each team records the lowest
1 net score and the lowest 1 gross score for the team
on each hole. The same ball can count for both low
net and low gross. There is also a low professional
competition where their three-day Stableford total
determines the winner.
The entry deadline for this event is Sunday, January
15 at 6:00 p.m. and is open to Golf and Sports
Members. A random lottery is held if more than
52 teams register before the entry deadline, and the
remaining teams are placed on a waitlist. The cost
is $2,775.00 per team, and includes practice round,
breakfast and lunch daily, party for participants on
March 11, and awards. Please note that caddie fees
are not included.

Bring family, friends, and your sense of adventure
on this nighttime kayak marsh tour. The full moon
sets the scene for this thrilling new perspective of
the Island and its surroundings. All equipment is
provided, and participants are encouraged to ride in
tandem kayaks to accommodate more parties.

FAIRWAYS AND FOREHANDS (SP/CSQ)
Wednesday, March 22
1:00 p.m.
Hit the links and courts for a day of friendly
competition. Sports and Golf Club Members are
invited to compete in two-person teams with
doubles round robin, flighted, and handicapped
tennis formats. Each of the three rounds are broken
up into nine games in which the total amount of
games Members can win is 27.
The golf format is captain’s choice awarding three
points for birdie or better, two for par, one for bogey,
and zero for double bogey or higher. As with tennis,
the best possible score is 27. Tennis and golf scores
are combined to determine the overall champions.
The cost is $40.00++ per player and includes
golf, tennis, and dinner following play. Please note,

Tournament! This two-day event is dedicated to a dear friend and original Kiawah Island Club Member, Mike
Harwood. Mike passed away in May 2015, and is missed greatly by all of the Kiawah Island community.

Foundation for Childhood Cancer research, a

EASTER RESERVATIONS
The Club is implementing a new policy for Easter reservations to ensure that Members
are top priority during the busy holiday. Easter week reservations for parties consisting
of Members only open on Thursday, February 9 at 9:00 a.m. Reservations for parties
consisting of Members with guests open on Thursday, February 16 at 9:00 a.m. As a
reminder, adult children are considered guests upon their 24th birthday. If a reservation
is made by the same Member on both dates, the first reservation is nulled and the second
request is then processed in the order it was received.
On each of these dates, requests are processed in the order of which they are received. After
February 16, all submitted reservation requests—including Member-only parties—are
handled at the same level of priority and processed in order. Before reservations open, a link to
a reservation request form is emailed to the Membership and posted on the homepage of the
website. Members must complete and submit this form in order to request a reservation.
Member Services is not accepting reservations by phone or email – only through the
completion of this form. Party sizes are limited to 12 people, no exceptions. More information
will be communicated to the Membership leading up to reservations opening.
SPRING FIVE-STAND TOURNAMENT* (KISC)

Take your best shot in this fun and competitive
five-stand tournament. This competition results in
a champion in three categories: Highest Overall,

Begin your Wednesday evening by filling in the
free space at Family Bingo Night. Prizes await the
lucky winners of several different games, including
traditional Bingo and Blackout rounds. Before the
games begin at 7:00 p.m., indulge in a buffet dinner
beginning at 6:00 p.m.

ultimate fishing experience in this action-filled fishing
tournament. Anglers meet at Rhett's Bluff at 8:00 a.m.
for tournament rules and captain introduction before
heading out on the Kiawah River to compete.

improve their game and reach the next level of play.
The clinic covers full swing, greenside shots, and
putting, with a variety of skills challenges.

TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT (SP)

Compete in a fun and friendly table tennis
tournament with fellow junior Members, ages 7 to
15, at the Sports Pavilion. The competition format
is a round robin tournament in which games are
played to 11 points with a win of at least two points.

Club Members and their families are invited for a
traditional yet lavish Good Friday Fish Fry at the
River Course Clubhouse. This family affair offers an
array of children’s activities, live entertainment, and
a cuisine to please seafarers and landlubbers alike.
The cost is $50.95++ for adults; $35.95 for ages 11
to 17; $25.95 for ages 3 to 10; and complimentary
for children under 3. The attire is Club Casual.

Explore the Club’s “kids only” program designed
for our younger Club Members between the ages

EASTER CARNIVAL & EGG HUNT* (MH)
Saturday, April 15
4:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Step right up to the first-ever Easter Carnival,
featuring an egg hunt, carnival rides, prize-winning
games, traditional fair foods, and more! Rides and
activities include a ferris wheel, spinning four-cage
Tempest, musical chair swing, bungee trampoline,
rockwall, inflatables, balloon darts, ring toss, face
painting, jugglers, petting zoo, and other great
attractions. Carnival fare is also available including
hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, and funnel cakes to
name a few.
Those participating in the Easter Egg Hunt arrive at
4:00 p.m., and are divided into two age groups: five
and under and six and older. The five and under
group egg hunt begins promptly at 4:15 p.m.
followed by the six and older round at 4:30 p.m.
Please note that start times may be altered due to uneggs-pected weather conditions.
The cost for this event is $47.50++ for adults; and
$27.50++ for ages 4 to 20. Wristbands are required
to be worn by all Carnival attendees. Wristbands can

The Kiawah Island Club is pleased to welcome
Wilander on Wheels, or WOW, a revolutionary
tennis experience that brings the fantasy of hitting
with Mats Wilander—former seven-time Grand
Slam champion (eight if you count doubles)—to
the Club. Wilander is accompanied by Cameron
Lickle, captain of the Naval Academy’s tennis team
in 2002 and 2003, and once ranked the number one
player in the world. Together with the Club tennis
professionals, Wilander and Lickle are offering
Members an unforgettable all-day tennis event.
There are three sessions available to book on-court
instruction with the pros. Between sessions, enjoy
a cookout at the SP Gazebo while Wilander talks
about his impressive career, being an internationally
ranked player, and his court tips.

entire nine holes and the team with the most points
in their flight after four matches qualifies for the
Championship Shootout.

This eight-week program is designed to improve your golf game with your commitment
to the following steps:

Beginning January 29 through March 12, play a minimum of six rounds of golf
to achieve baseline statistics in the areas of Fairways hit, Greens hit, or number of
putts.

Set a goal to hit more fairways, hit more greens, or make more putts.
•
Play an average of two rounds per week for eight weeks between March 12 and May 5.
•
Attend weekly skill development and practice programs between March 12 and May 5.
Winners for each category are determined by the greatest statistical improvement in
their chosen category.
