This document outlines the procedure
for adding a filter rule to Microsoft Outlook
Express to assist in removing "spam".
Tools
Open Microsoft Outlook Express an
select "Tools" from the menu.
Step 2....Message Rules

Click on "Message Rules
and a new window
will open.

Select the "Mail Rules" tab.
To create the Rule, click on "New"
and another window will open.
Step 4....
.... Where the Subject Line contains specific words

In the top panel, click on "Where the Subject Line
contains specific words".
In the bottom panel, click on "contains specific words".
This will open the "Type Specific Words" window.
Apply this rule after the message arrives

Step 5....type in [SPAM]
(case sensitive with square brackets)
.... Add
[SPAM]
Add
In the top box, type in
[SPAM]
and click the "Add" button. This will place the
item in the search list.
Step 6.... OK
Click on "OK" to continue.

Step 7.... move it to the specified folder
Select the Actions for your rule
Move it to the specified folder
In the bottom panel, click on
"Where the Subject Line
contains specific words".
Apply this rule after the message arrives

Click on "specific" and a new window
will open.

Move it to the specified folder
Step 9....new folder

You need to select where the spam message should
be moved to. You can send them straight to the
"Deleted Items" folder, however DESCnet
recommends the creation of a new folder called
SPAM.
To create the new folder, click "New Folder"

Step 10....type in SPAM

Type the word SPAM. Now click "OK"

The newly created folder SPAM now appears.
Click "OK"

Apply this rule after the message arrives

Move it to the SPAM folder

Apply this rule after the message arrives
where the subject line contains '[SPAM]'
Move it to the SPAM folder

New Mail Rule #1
Click "Apply Now"
Apply this rule to currently downloaded
messages. Where the subject line
contains '[SPAM]'. Move it to the SPAM folder
Apply Now
Click "OK" and now email classed as SPAM will be placed
into the selected folder.
OK and close
Helpful information
If you receive a message that is spam and our servers did not pick it as spam, you can forward that
message to [email protected] and our servers will adjust the rules to block future
similar messages.
If you receive a message that has been tagged as spam incorrectly, forward the email to
[email protected] and the rules will automatically be adjusted.
If you send a message to an address, that address will be 'white-listed' and will not be
checked for spam content.
