Spread and Growth
The first community of Christians were
actually Jews
Believed that Christ, by example of his
teachings and through resurrection, had
brought a new vision and spoke as an
equal to God
Paul was the most influential missionary
and he traveled all over preaching the Old
Law, or the Laws of Moses, should be
replaces by the faith in Christ
Paul said only through christ can a person
live a life of kindness and joy, ultimately
being saved and reaching Heaven
Tensions arose between Jews and
Christians, since the Jews wanted to
preserve Jewish ways within Christianity
Ultimately, Paul succeeded in separating
the two religions and spreading the
Christian faith
With the founding of the New World,
Christianity began to spread beyond
Europe and Asia
Early missionaries were Catholics who
journeyed to Central and South America,
seeking to convert native people, but only
some of them converted to Christianity
By 1900, Christianity had spread onto
every continent, became a major world
religion
