Term 4, Week 6
Dear Parents, Parishioners and Children,
Welcome to Josh Baars who began work with us this week. Josh will be working on cleaning and grounds
maintenance with Sue Hawke and is proving to be a very valuable member of staff. Josh has already
been working here voluntarily one day a week for 18 months.
Tomorrow is a PUPIL FREE Day as staff work on the Annual School Plan for 2014. We will also
review our Pastoral Care and Discipline Policy and analyse our NAPLAN results in detail.
Ashane’s Memoir
In class this term, Year Six have been looking at how we assist refugees as part of our Global
Connections unit in H.S.I.E and memoir writing in English.
Our assignment was to turn a brief outline of a refugee’s story into a detailed memoir of the horrific events
refugees face on their journey to safety and freedom in Australia. We had three different stories to choose
from off the Amnesty International website and I chose Ashane’s.
As I was writing my memoir I found it very interesting that so many people just like us, have suffered
through times like Ashane did. Please refer to the Document section of the school App for this story
written by Lily Ellis.
Hall Repairs
We are currently having the wooden floor in the hall repaired. When the floor was laid, there were not
enough expansion joints installed and consequently the floor has crests and valleys. This is a warranty
repair. The new hall will be out of service for 2 weeks.

TOMORROW
Thank you to the many parents who were very supportive of the staff and school yesterday and today and
for your understanding and compassion. We do appreciate your support. I could not be prouder of the
kids and my staff at the moment!
Yours sincerely
