The war helped define Canada as a country and the economy was stimulated. How did WW1 boost the Canadian economy? Canadian manufacturers were building war equipment. What role did women play during WW1? They were helping as nurses at the ‘front’ and by working in the factories at home. Who were the “suffragettes” and what did they achieve? They were women who fought for the right to vote. They got the right to vote federally in 1917 but only provincially in 1940. What is an “imperialist”?
