Kangaroos (Macropus ocyciromus), from the 1st
day of July, 1953, to the 31st day of October, 1953,
in all that portion of the State which lies within
the boundaries of the Preston Road District, excepting all timber reserves and all reserves for State
forests.

Reserve No. 21540 (Sussex Location 3074) at Metricup should be reserved for the burial of the dead:

of the Executive Council, do herBby proclaim and
declare that Friday, the 23rd day of October, 1953,
from 1 o'clock in the afternoon, shall be a public
holiday within the Balingup Specified Locality and
the Balingup Shop District, for the purpose of

WHEREAS it is provided by subsection 1 (b) (iii)
of section 480 of the Municipal Corporations Act,
1906-1951, that a Council may, with the approval
of the Governor, expend out of the ordinary rev-
enue of the Municipality any sum or sums not
exceeding in the aggi'egate 10 per cent, of such
ordinary revenue for providing all forms of tourist
propaganda both within the district and elsewhere
in connection with or in relation to any tourist
resort within the district of the council; and
whereas the Municipality of Bunbury is desirous
of expending the sum of £27 from its ordinary
revenue for )tourist propaganda purposes: Now,
therefore, His Excellency the Governor, acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, and in exercise of the power vested in
him in the said section of the said Act, doth hereby

Perth Road Board.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

HIS Excellency the Governor, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
hereby makes the following order under the authority of section 35A of the Dog Act, 1903-1948, namely,
that the Perth Road Board is hereby empowered to
make by-laws in pursuance of section 35 of the said
Act, to have effect within the Perth Road District:(l) Empowering it, subject to the provisions
of the Act under which it is constituted, to establish and maintain a pound or pounds for the impounding of dogs seized pursuant to the provisions
of the Act; (2) for the care, detention, release,
disposal and destruction of dogs so seized; (3) prescribing fees to be payable in respect of the seizing,
care, detention, release, disposal and destruction
of dogs so seized; (4) prescribing the liability of
any person in respect of payment of the fees
referred to in the last preceding paragraph; (5)
prohibiting the release from any pound of any
dog except in accordance with the regulations;
(6) prohibiting the obstruction or hindrance of
any employee of the Perth Road Board or any
member of the Police Force in the performance of
anything authorised by the provisions of the Act
or the regulations made in pursuance of those
provisions; (7) imposing as an absolute prohibition
an obligation on the owner of any dog shall not
enter or be in(i) such places as may be pre-
scribed in any circumstances whatever, or (ii) such
places as may be prescribed, unless on a leash held
by a person.

HIS Excellency the Governor, acting by and with
the advice of the Executive Council, hereby makes
the following order under the authority of the
Road Districts Act, 1919-1951, namely:In pursuance of section 20 of the said Act,
that the number of members of the Dardanup
Road Board be increased from nine to 11, and
that the additional members be allocated one each
to the North and West Wards of the Dardanup
Road District.
In pursuance of section 14 of the said Act,
that an election shall be held on the 5th day of
September, 1953, for the purpose of electing the
additional members, and that no new election in
respect of the offices of the existing members shall
be held by the reason of such increase of members.

Workers' Compensation Act, 1912-1952.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is enacted by section 13 of the Workers' Compensation Act, 1912-1952, that it shall be
obligatory for every employer or group of employers
to obtain from an incorporated insurance office
approved by the Minister, a policy of insurance for
the full amount of the liability to pay compensation under this Act to all workers employed by him
or them, but that if an employer or group of employers proves to the satisfaction of the Minister
that such employer or group of employers has

established a fund for insurance against such liability and has deposited at the Treasury securities
charged with all payments to become due under
such liability, the Governor may, by Order in Council, exempt such employer or group of employers
from the operation of this section; and whereas
Ernest Alexander Buckingham, -of Claisebrook Road,
East Perth, and James Thomas Buckingham, of
Buckingham, via Collie, carrying on business to-
gether in partnership under the registered firm
name of "Buckingham Bros.," at Claisebrook Road,
East Perth, and at Buckingham, via Collie, in this
State, as sawmillers and timber merchants, are
an employer or a group of employers within the
meaning of the Act, and as such are subject to
the provisions of section 13 of the Act, and have,
in accordance with the regulations, made application for exemption from the operation of the section; and whereas they have proved to the satisfaction of the Minister that as such employer or
group of employers they have established a fund
for insurance against the liability mentioned in
section 13 and have deposited securities, to wit,
a certificate of fixed deposit account for five thousand pounds (g5,000) at the Australia and New
Zealand Bank, 84 St. George's Terrace, Perth, in
the name of the Honourable the Treasurer, Government of Western Australia, at the Treasury, charged
with all payment to become due by them under
the liability aforesaid: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, acting with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council, and in exercise
of the power conferred upon him by the Act, doth
hereby exempt Ernest Alexander Buckingham and
James Thomas Buckingham, carrying on business
under the registered firm name of Buckingham
Bros., from the operation of section 13 of the Workers' Compensation Act, 1912-1952, for a period

IN pursuance of the powers conferred by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1906-1951, the Lord Mayor
and Councillors of the City of Perth order that
by-law No. 39 (Buildings) be amended by the insertion after clause 48 of a new clause to be numbered 48A, as follows:48A. Notwithstanding anything contained in
clauses 41 to 46, inclusive, of this by-law
(1) Where a solid-fuel burning stove of a type
and construction approved by the surveyor is installed in a dwelling house a flue may be attached
thereto complying with the following conditions:
The flue shall have not less than 16 square
inches of clear airway with no cross sectional dimensions less than 4 inches, and
shall be connnected directly to the smoke
outlet of the stove and shall be carried
up continuously and vertically to a point
not less than 18 inches above the highest
part of the roof at the point of emergence.
The flue shall be surrounded throughout its
full height from the top of the stove, or
from the top of any hood or canopy provided over the stove, to a height of 9 inches
above the roof with a casing providing not
less than 4 inches clear airway between
the flue and the casing.
The flue shall be of mild steel not thinner
than 14 S.W.G. or asbestos cement pipe
with a thickness of not less than 5/l6ths
inches. The casing shall be of mild steel
not less than 24 S.W.G. or asbestos cement
pipe with a thickness of not less than
5/l6ths inches.
No combustible material shall be permitted
in the clear airway between the flue and
the casing, and such airway shall not be
bridged or interrupted except by metal
spacers of not more than 1/20th square
inch cross sectional area.
A clear airway of not less than 4 inches
shall be provided behind the stove and
such air space shall remain open to provide free circulation of air.
A hearth shall be provided under the whole
area of the stove, of incombustible material such as concrete, stone, brick or tile
not less than 2in. thick, supported on fireresisting construction, and extending sideways not less than l2in. beyond each side
of the fire opening or fire doors, and not
less than l4in. in front of the stove
throughout its full width.
No timber or other combustible material
shall be permitted within 2 inches of the
outer casing. Timber and other wood-
fibre materials capable of becoming heated
by the stove or flue shall be ventilated
and/or insulated in a manner which will
ensure that they are maintained below
150 deg. F.
(2) Where a solid-fuel burning or liquid-fuel
burning bath-heater of a type and construction
approved by the surveyor is installed in a dwelling
house a flue may be attached thereto complying
with the following conditions:
The flue shall be connected directly to
the smoke outlet of the heater and shall
be carried up continuously and vertically
to a point not less than 18 inches above
the highest part of the roof at the point

No timber or other combustible material
shall he permitted within 2 inches of the
outer casing.
The outer casing shall be terminated at
its upper end by a cowl, cap, or similar
covering.

park such vehicle or vehicles otherwise than parallel to the kerb in any street or road within the
Serpentine and Mundijong townsite areas.

park such vehicle or vehicles between the intersection of Spencer Street and the intersection of Wellard Street on the East side of Richardson Street,

a period longer than 10 minutes.

The above regulations are amended as follows:1. Regulation 178 is revoked and the following regulation is inserted in
lieu thereof:-
178.
A person shall not drive on a road a vehicle to which a trailer
or caravan is attached unlessthe trailer or caravan has fitted thereto a draw bar of a
type and strength suitable and sufficient to enable the
trailer or caravan to be towed with safety to all persons
and property;
the draw bar is of sufficient length to prevent the locking
of the trailer or caravan with the towing vehicle when the
vehicles are being turned or reversed;
the towing vehicle has fitted thereto a towing device of a
type and strength suitable and sufficient for the purpose
of towing the trailer or caravan with safety to all persons
and property;
the draw bar of the trailer or caravan is securely fastened
to the towing device on the towing vehicle in such a
manner as to prevent the draw bar becoming unfastened
or working loose;
the mechanism connecting the draw bar of the trailer
or caravan to the towing device of the towing vehicle is
sufficiently flexible to permit of the use of the towing and
towed vehicles without undue strain in any portion of the
draw bar or towing device;
the trailer or caravan has fitted thereto, in addition to its
draw bar, two safety chains or cables securely linking
the trailer or caravan to the towing vehicle in such a
manner as to prevent the locking of the trailer or
caravan with the towing vehicle when the vehicles are
being turned or reversed;
the safety chains or cables are
securely fastened to the towing device of the towing
vehicle, one on each side of the connecting mechanism,
capable of acting, as a suitable link between the towed
and towing vehicles, independently of the connecting
mechanism, and
of a type, weight, length and strength suitable for the

purposes mentioned in this regulation.
A new regulation to follow regulation 178 is added as follows:178A. Where, in the opinion of a Police Officer or Traffic Inspector,
having regard to the safety of all persons and property, any of the
provisions of Regulation 178 are not complied with in respect of a
vehicle used as a towing vehicle, or of a trailer or caravan, he may give
notice to the owner or person in charge of the vehicle, trailer or
caravan, as the case may be, requiring him to desist from using the
vehicle as a towing vehicle or the trailer or caravan until the provisions
of that regulation have been complied with, and the owner or person
in charge as aforesa.id shall comply with the terms of the notice.
3. A new Division is added to Part V to follow regulation 203D as follows:
Division 9Maximum Height of Vehicles and Loads.
203E. (1) (a) The maximum height of a motor vehicle or trailer
inclusive of any loading or equipment thereon is hereby prescribed as
14 feet 6 inches in the case of a double-deck omnibus, and
12 feet 6 inches in the case of any other motor vehicle or trailer.
(b) Except as otherwise expressly provided in these regulations,
a person shall not drive or employ a person to drive on a road a
motor vehicle the height of which or of a trailer, if any, attached
thereto, together with the loading and equipment thereon, exceeds the
maximum height prescribed in paragraph (a) of this subregulation.
(2) (a) The Minister may grant and issue or authorise the
appropriate local authority to grant and issue to any person a permit
authorising, subject to such conditions to be specified in the permit,
as the Minister may impose, the use on specified roads of any specified
motor vehicle and trailer, if any, attached thereto, the height of which
together with the loading and equipment thereon exceeds the maximum
height prescribed in paragraph (a) of subregulation (1).

Where a permit is granted and issued pursuant to the provisions
of paragraph (a) of this subregulation, the grantee may drive or
employ a person to drive the specified vehicle on the specified roads if
the terms thereof and the conditions subject to which the permit
was granted are strictly complied with, notwithstanding that the
maximum height prescribed in paragraph (a) of subregulation (1) is
exceeded.
A permit issued under this subregulation shall not be of any
force or avail unless it is carried on the vehicle in respect of which
it was granted and produced for inspection to a member of the police
force or a traffic inspector, on demand.
Regulation 209 is revoked.

THE Agriculture Protection Board, acting under
the provisions of section 67 of the Vermin Act,
1918-1951, has been pleased to declare that owners
of holdings within the meaning of the said Act
in the Vermin Districts of Rockingham, Mandurah,
Corrigin, Murchison, Gosnells and Darling Range
shall be exempt from the payment of rates under
the said Act for the financial year ending on the
30th day of June, 1954.
