Its Park Hall’s 10th birthday this April, and it has received the best birthday present
ever by becoming National Farm Attraction of the Year in 2010. Richard Powell, Park
Hall’s Finance Director sees it as a ‘marvellous achievement, it’s great to be
recognised by our peers in the industry’.
Park Hall Countryside Experience was officially opened by Lady Biffen in April
2000, and indeed, ten years ago when Park Hall’s Directors embarked upon the
project of creating a premier tourist attraction for the region they had hardly imagined
that the park would develop into the incredibly diverse award winning venture it is
today.
Their vision for a farm park which would introduce visitors to farming and provide a
fun filled environment for children to play was achieved fairly rapidly. With sheer
hard work and perseverance they were able to bring new ideas to fruition. The
children’s 4x4 course was developed, two well crafted adventure courses were made
and a new playbarn built. Now the farm offers numerous interactive animal activities
not only for the general public but for the many schools and playgroups who visit
each year. Play is also number one on the agenda of its many visitors so two massive
indoor play barns ensure fun whatever the weather and its outdoor play facilities are
superb. A wide range of driving activities for children has also proved exceedingly
popular at the farm.
Park Hall’s Managing Director Martyn Hughes attributes the secret of its success to
the pride it takes in delivering reliable, value for money entertainment and excellent
customer service. He says ‘Testament to this is the number of season ticket holders
continuing to support us year in year out. Over the last ten years we have accumulated
a great deal of knowledge of the leisure industry and we have not been afraid to adapt
and change. We view every project as a bespoke design, built to suit the application’.
During the last 10 years Park Hall’s expansion has also encompassed three excellent
heritage projects. First came the Welsh Guards Museum, then the well established
Victorian School in Llangollen was purchased and moved to Park Hall, and most
recently, the Iron Age Roundhouse was constructed to provide a valuable link with
local heritage at Old Oswestry Iron Age Hill Fort.
Park Hall’s directors are very proud of their achievements over the last ten years and
are firmly committed to providing a stimulating and safe environment for families to
bring their children for a thoroughly entertaining day out.
