AIRCAP:
Another world first from Mercedes-Benz, AIRCAP offers a virtually wind-free driving
experience for all four passengers – all at the touch of a button

Windscreen Lamella:
• A power-electric lamella/spoiler extends from
the top of the windshield frame
• A tensed net is mounted between the lamella
and windshield frame; air travels through the
net, diverting the airflow over the passenger
compartment
• Operated via a button on the center console, the
spoiler functions in two modes – retracted and
reeled-out
Mesh Windbreak:
• Operated via a button on the dash, the
windblocker is mounted to the electrically driven
rear headrests and functions in three modes –
retracted, half-reeled-out, and completely
reeled-out

System Benefits:
• The best wind deflection possible for front seat passengers – significantly
improved over traditional rear-seat mounted mesh units
• The wind deflection for rear seat passengers is comparable to that experienced
in the front without AIRCAP engaged
• No need to install and remove a mesh windbreak and no need to store it in the
trunk

AGILITY CONTROL
Suspension
with Dynamic
Handling Package:
• AGILITY CONTROL raises the bar for ride comfort and driving dynamics in this
segment with its selective damping system
• The dampers at each wheel are continuously adjusted to a harder or softer
setting depending on road conditions – this provides a noticeably smoother ride,
especially on poor road surfaces
• An integral valve reduces
the damping force automatically
in the event of weaker shocks,
while allowing the system to work
like conventional shock absorbers
in the event of stronger shocks
• With heavier impacts, the level of damping provided by the system increases
significantly, which in turn, helps to stabilize the entire vehicle
Dynamic Handling Package:
At the push of a button, vehicle characteristics can vary between a
comfortable and sporty set-up. The following parameters can be influenced:
• Continuously variable damping
• Speed-sensitive power steering
with variable centering
• ESP/ASR (traction control)
• Accelerator response
• Speed of automatic gear changes

Adaptive Highbeam Assist (AHA):
• Another industry first from Mercedes-Benz – AHA automatically activates and
de-activates the highbeams based on the traffic situation
• A camera mounted near the top of the windshield detects the headlights of
oncoming vehicles and the taillights of vehicles ahead and adjusts the
highbeams accordingly
• In other words, when no other traffic is around, the system will automatically
turn on the highbeams
• System status is displayed in the instrument cluster and the system can be
turned off by the driver as well
• AHA offers many advantages, including:
•Reduced probability of dazzling other road users
•Far better road illumination overall
•Drivers can adapt better to the illuminated road

ATTENTION ASSIST:
• Another industry-leading innovation, ATTENTION ASSIST, which is unique in
this segment, enhances driving safety, particularly on long journeys and when
driving at night
• The system constantly analyses the driver's behaviour, in particular, steering
wheel movements, searching for specific patterns which occur more
frequently when drowsiness sets in
• Should an increasing number of steering wheel movements symptomatic of
drowsiness be detected, ATTENTION ASSIST will emit a visual and audible
warning
• By alerting the driver when there are signs of drowsiness or inattentiveness,
the natural benefit is that the system can help prevent accidents
• The system analyzes 72 parameters in total
• ATTENTION ASSIST can be activated and de-activated from the "Assistance
Systems" main menu in the instrument cluster, and operates at speeds
between 80 and 180 km/h

DISTRONIC Plus
with PRE-SAFE® Brake:
• Introduced on the S-Class, this exciting technology is now available in a new
segment
• DISTRONIC Plus automatically maintains a pre-set distance to vehicles
ahead using highly sensitive radar sensors
(Operating range is from 0-200 km/h)
• The system can bring the vehicle to a complete stop
in busy traffic and the driver simply has to give the
resume command or touch the accelerator to start off again
• The system audibly warns the driver if the approach speed is too great and
driver-initiated braking is required
• PRE-SAFE® Brake helps avoid running into the rear of a vehicle ahead - if
the system identifies that there is a risk of a collision, it provides visible and
audible warnings and if necessary, can trigger partial braking automatically
• PRE-SAFE® Brake is activated if the following conditions are met:

The vehicle speed is between 30 and 180 km/h in conjunction with a moving object ahead
The vehicle speed is less than 72 km/h in conjunction with a stationary object ahead
The visual and audible warning is longer than 0.8 seconds
DISTRONIC PLUS is not activated
• The following measures are implemented in progressive stages:
• Visual warning (red warning triangle) in the instrument cluster and simultaneous audible warning
• Automatic partial braking up to 4 m/s² activated if driver does not apply brakes
• PRE-SAFE® functions activated
• PRE-SAFE® Brake is deactivated if at least one of the following applies:

The driver accelerates heavily or uses kick down
The driver has braked and released the brake pedal
The vehicle speed falls below approximately 15 km/h

PARKTRONIC with Parking Guidance:
• PARKTRONIC with Parking Guidance offers an important contribution to
relieving driver stress and is unique in this segment
• Parking space measurement as well as visual and audible steering support
expand the traditional PARKTRONIC functions
• At speeds below 35 km/h, the system scans for adequate parking spaces
(which have to be at least 1.8 metres longer than the vehicle)
• When an appropriate spot is found, a "P" symbol is displayed in the
instrument cluster
• When parking is initiated, visual and audible steering support is provided
during the parking procedure through a display of the required steering angle
